The professional post-production boards are going berzerk over this movie, saying it's one of the worst things they've ever heard - that the dialog levels jump all over the place, that a lot of it is mumbled, and that Michael Mann wears hearing aids, yet insists on micromanaging the sound mix. -Dan.

I had a hard time hearing most of the talking at first, then, when I got used to the 'lowness' of it, the sound then jumped up ~~ very annoying. At first I thought it was the theater speakers, but discovered they were fine, it was just the audio as a whole. The other big issue I had was how it was filmed; Mann jumped from handheld, to fixed, then, during the shoot-out parts used some wierd t.v. style filming that reminded me of the Blair Witch or those 'ghost' docu-shows. I expected far more for a Michael Mann film; Last Of The Mohicans, Miami Vice, just to name a couple. I don't know what happened, but it sure didn't seem up to par with his usual. Even the cast; a solid group of young actors...wasted in my opinion. Maybe I'm jaded when it comes to movies now-a-days...maybe I'm expecting more than I should... Matthew

Well, if we're talking movies-that-are-so-bad-you-can't-help-laughing, then I am afraid that the obvious king is Troll 2, if for no other reason than the corn scene. But if we're talking movies-that-are-so-boring-that-zzzzzzzzzzzz, then I must go with 1978's gem, War of the Robots. I honestly have no words to describe the boredom of the climatic space battle at this film's conclusion. It defies all human experience.

It seemed to me that they purposely lowered the volume of dialogue and then cranked up the volume on the gunfire. The sound definitely could have been better. quote:

Usually action sequences are louder than the diologue sequences, but even during the diologue it was low than suddenly high. After the begining prison break while they were in the car the sound kept ebbing up and down. That's when I first thought it was the theater speakers, but soon discovered that was not the case. ORIGINAL: E_Lin I watched "Megashark versus Giant Octopus" this weekend. The only words I could use to adequately describe it would violate TOS and get me in trouble. So I will say this. I have seen a lot of bad movies where those who made them didn't have the budget to pull off what they attempted. I can honestly say that not only did the people who made this movie not care, but they probably thought that nobody who did care would notice. LOL, somebody had me watch a youtube clip of that a few weeks ago. Lorenzo Lamas and a shark that can catch airplanes: what's not to love? -Dan. I'm going to be seeing this on Friday. Can't. Even. Wait.

"Deep Star Six"-in the theater, they forgot to load a certain reel so about 10 minutes of the movie was missing. So when it became available on cable, I thought it would be better intact. It wasn't. "Fortress of Amerikkka"-a confused action flick having something to do with white supremacists, with a soft core porn scene thrown in to keep guys from leaving halfway through the movie. I will note I saw both of these at an AAFES theater when I was in the Army, so the $1.50 wasn't a big loss. We stuck it out because it was July in Georgia, and the theater was air conditioned while our barracks weren't. LOL Too many "SciFi Original Movies" to list. Most recently, "Streetfighter, the Legend of Chun-Li". The director forgot that if you base movie on a fighting video game, there should actually be decent fighting. The scriptwriter must have read too much Jane Austen.

I recently remembered James Cameron's 'The Abyss.' I was so invlolved with it, thought it was a well made film...then the ending came, and...that was it!? Now when it was released on video as a directors cut, I thought, 'good this should make it better...' Boy, was I wrong!! The film overall wasn't bad...the ending just killed the whole thing for me and puts it on my 'worst movie I sat through list.' Matthew

Worst American movie: Chinatown. The nihilism at the heart of this film made it totally believable that its creator would molest a the 13 year old daughter of a friend. Worst French movie: Eight Women. Promiscuity alone isn't funny enough, so let's add father/daughter incest to the brew. Ha, ha. Chuckle. Chortle. Aren't we French just SOOOOOO sophisticated? If that's "greatness," then its no wonder that the French are exterminating themselves.

If you thought that was disappointing, then rent "Deep Star Six" and the movie "Leviathon" and watch them back to back. I swear you will feel like you have never wasted an evening so fruitlessly. Watching the same movie twice. With different actors and a different monster. Otherwise it is all pretty much the same.....

The worst ones I ever sat through: The Terror. Even though it had two of my all time favourite Actors in Boris Karloff and Jack Nicholson this one was just plain awful. Smokey and the Bandit Part III. Easily the worst one ever made. IMDB gave it something like a 3.5 or so rating and they are usually pretty tough critics there. This one deserved a 1 only because Jackie Gleason was in it. I got surprised by the PG rating and some of the content towards the end, that I had no warning for. Beverly Hills Chihuaha. Ok, I didn't actually sit and watch it but it was on the TV which was next to my computer at the time when my oldest daughter had us rent it for her and a friend sleeping over. When halfway through a talking dog movie even my 4 year old has left because of the intense dullness of whatever that was we were watching you know it's bad. We tease my oldest daughter cause she watched the entire thing.

I was forced to sit through Event Horizon. Words cannot describe it... shudder. Star Wars I-III was a trifecta of stupid, Napoleon Dynamite was obnoxious and Howard the Duck was brain-damaging but they were all still better than Event Horizon.

I think a lot of folks (before the word got out) went to see Event Horizon thinking it was going to be a space picture. What they got was horror-gore. No wonder they were ticked!
