Ya know, I have yet to know someone who was told boy and ended up with a girl, only the other way around. That's how I got my nephew

I have known at least two people that were told "boy" and ended up with girl....

I think in those cases...people mistake the cord or another thing for the boy part......

There was no mistaking my sons little wee-wee, LOL. Especially the one I'm pregnant with now. We ALL thought girl and through the ENTIRE ultrasound you could see his penis. He made SURE we knew he was a boy. LOL

CONGRATULATIONS NORTHSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joyful - TWO Boys for US! Yay!

Anne - Remember those updates are very very general. In no time you'll be waddling. :)

I beg to differ, but I KNOW I told you BOY!!!

Tilts of the uterus make you show or not show more or less. Body style, torso height, etc have a lot to do with it too. I am overweight, but because my torso is so short I show pretty fast and it is OBVIOUS I am pregnant (unlike my squishy look when not pregnant). Some women just don't show much though. Some pregnancies you don't show as much for as others. IME it has nothing to do with the number of pregnancies you have had, it has more to do with the tilt of your uterus for that pregnancy. Even though I typically show pretty much from the start, I didn't show with my 4th until I was 4 months...then before I was 5mo I popped HUGELY.

Oh, I'm already waddling. I'm just not showing. I've even had someone guess I was pg based on the way I walk--I figure I was waddling a bit even before I was aware of it.

I was back at the gym today for the first time in ages; it feels great to be exercising again! Don't worry, I won't overdo it.

not only the tilt of the pelvis/uterus...but also WHERE in the uterus the baby attaches.....

My first born ...I was huge...she was attached on the front...by second baby...I looked 5 months pregnant at 8 months....my third was a happy medium...fourth I was medium...5th...was pretty big again.

That actually makes a lot of sense; this baby is attached on the back, so that might be a factor in why it's not showing.

The bump is definitely there though--did some mat exercises today and quickly realized that I shouldn't be lying face down anymore!

How can u tell where they 'attach'? I'm thinking this one must be in the front.

That's one of the things they check for at the u/s (ie placenta position). I don't think they're tremendously concerned about it early on, but it becomes significant later (eg if the placenta is over the cervix). My midwife mentioned that if I had any problems eg with detachment I'd feel it as back pain because it's attached at the back. If it were in front I'd have to be particularly cautious re abdominal trauma.

They can tell if the placenta is positioned in front even earlier, because the doppler will pick up your pulse in the front of the uterus.
