I'm talking good friends. Someone you can just call up without having a ''reason'' to call, but just to chat. Somebody you can go to a movie, lunch, mall or their house, and not feel awkward. How often do you hang out w/ these friends? I'm asking b/c we move around so much it's hard to make good friends and i really yearn for a best ''girl'' friend, which i haven't had since high school, and i'm in my mid 30's now.

... 2? 3? I have no idea... The friends I thought were my really good girl friends spread my secrets around the church.

We're Army too. So I hear ya. Here (at our current station)...I have 2 good friends I could call up just yak. Online though...I have lots of good friends I could call or text just to yak! I have friends online that I've had longer than most irl friends. It is hard to have to constantly make friends just to say goodbye...but keep trying! Pray, ask God for that close friend He knows your heart desires.

Before we moved, we had a really close-knit group of friends (5 couples), one of those couples being our very best friends. We spent a LOT of time together. We talked on the phone, went to dinner, hung out at each others' houses, etc. all the time. I miss that. Now that we've moved, we keep in touch with our friends over the phone, email, and still go visit, but we don't have that here like we did there. I do chat with my online friends every day. We have friends from church here, but it's not the same as it was in our old city. My high school best friend is my husband's sister, so I still spend a lot of time with her several time a year when we go visit, and she just came here for a few days. She's a tomboy, though, so she doesn't like to go to the mall or get pedicures together, LOL. It's OK with me, though. If I want some girlfriend time, I just go visit my mom or my friends in our old town. Most of the time I'm more happy to do fun things with my kids and hubby.

My best friend from college who lives 11 hours away (we just visited her). We don't seem to have much to talk about lately though. My mom, who lives 3000 miles away. Oh, and my hubby. It has been an ongoing struggle for DH and I to make friends- everyone we reach out to seems to be too busy for a new friendship.

I have 10 very close girl friends who live in the same town as me, we see each other weekly, chat on the phone, sms one another, go for coffees at each others houses. I also have 3 other friends who I have had in my life for about 15 years now, they don't live here but one we sms each other about 25 times in one day!! (I have a special phone plan!) we have done that for about 5 years now, I see her when I go to the city, her sister is my other close friend, my best friend we email, chat on FB, sms she lives in another state, and my other dear friend we email, sms, phone and I see her now and again in the city or she flies up here for a visit. I have been blessed with my friends, they really do keep me going, inspire me, encourage me, and we have a ball. I did find it hard when I first moved away from the city for a job first year out of Uni and knew NOONE, but getting connected in my church, praying for friends and seeking out opportunities to make them I formed that 10 strong group. I also have 3 sil's and my sister who I wouldn't count as my friends, but we speak or email every few days. I pray that you are able to meet some new people, form close friendships :)

Besides my sister I have one very good friend that I can call up and tell anything to and not worry about being judged. Unfortunately she moved across the state 11 years ago. I have never really needed a lot of close friends.

I have one friend who knows all my "laundry" and I know all hers. She's the person I'd call at 2 am when I couldn't call anyone else. I depend on her for biblical truth when I need advice, etc. Then my "friend-circle" expands to 3 friends. Very close, but there is an invisible line that I don't cross with them. These friendships have some depth to them, but not quite to the expanse of the first friend I mentioned. After that...I have lots of gals I can hang with around the pool or over coffee, etc. We have fun little things we can do together, but the real depth and transparency doesn't happen in this larger group. Of course, it's from this group that I can grow a deeper friendship if that connection happens. I just feel that women have so much to offer one another if we'd just get off our "fear" and attitude towards women in general. at least imo

ORIGINAL: peculiar_lady2 I do however have lots from online...mostly here and facebook. I didn't mean to exclude my girlfriends here on CW. They probably know as much as they want to know about me and I would be thrilled to meet and love on every single one of them.

Close friends? Just my husband. I don't have any girlfriends at all, but I'll do stuff with my best friend from high school from time to time. Sometimes I'll tag along with my husband and his friends. I'm very shy/quiet and I don't even make aquaintances easily, let alone "friends."

About 5-10 good friends... maybe a few more if you count all the guys... We don't hang out much because our schedules conflict, but I think if we could, we would.

Not of lack of trying though...lol. I am just a weird duck.....and that's okay.

I am just a weird duck.....and that's okay. I'm right there with you, W.O.F. I have no close friends, other than my younger sister, and I would say she knows me better than anyone else on this planet, and vice versa. I suffered from Bipolar Disorder and a cutting disorder for the better part of my adulthood until God healed me just about 3 years ago. The only friends I ever made during all that time were not people I would care to associate with today, even if I could find them. I sure made a lot of enemies though. I would love to have a close friend or two in this world that I could call and tell all my news and daily drama to. I have prayed for this, and I hope that God will send someone. The problem I have had is that I have quite a past, and my life is so completely different today that I have had a hard time figuring out where I fit in, and most of the time I just feel like I don't. I bear many scars from my past, including a large, colorful tattoo on my leg that keeps me out of certain social circles. I feel like every time I meet someone new I have to explain everything to them, so that they can realize that I am a good person now or something. SO, I usually just stick to my sister and have those morning coffee talkfests whenever she comes up to visit or vice versa.

I have two girlfriends that I hang out with. We spend a lot of time hanging out and they come over or call just because. We spend a lot of time together. I just met someone else yesterday that I think has a lot of potential to be a good close friend, too. I have several friends that I chat with on Facebook a lot, but don't hang out much IRL. I think we're going to start hanging out more with one couple that we re-connected with through Facebook and found out that we live only twenty minutes from. From here, I have one friend that I call. I also have several families members that I am close to, such as my mom and my husband, who is my very best friend second only to the Lord.
