I have 2 wonderful children who wanted me to go to church. I just didn't feel like it. They went. I should have gone.
I guess it's the dinner afterwards. My son dates this really nice and pleasant girl. But her mom used to be (way to) friendly to me. I had to tell her it was not appropriate. So now I'm dirt, because I rebuffed her. I've known her husband for 25+ years. He treats HER like dirt, quite frankly.
So I just don't feel like going over to their house for Father's day dinner. Even though my kids will be there. Sit around a bunch of dysfunctional Christians.
I'm in my own pity party today!!!

That’s it. Maybe I’ll drive down to Key West, and visit Hemmingway’s Bar. 5 hour trip let my mind wander….

John

PS; last time I was there, the wife made a beautiful dinner. After dinner, the husband said, (in a demanding voice) “You haven’t put the salad away yet?” I’m thinking, ‘no wonder he’s not getting any’ (He said they make love once or twice a year)

He should have said, “That was a wonderful dinner”. I don’t want to be around them,,,,,,,,,

Tell your kids she makes you uncomfortable and that's why you don't want to go over there... They should understand that. Maybe it's too late for this year but next year they can pick neutral territory for the lunch.

I'm heading over to my own dysfunctional family for lunch in a little bit.... .
