I've been coming here for several weeks now. Lots of you are no doubt way ahead of me in terms of understanding scripture. Therefore I'd like to tap into that knowledge, if I may. I've read much of the Old and New Testaments. Can't be sure I've read it all, but after 35 years or so of reading here and there, and no less than three attempts to read it end to end, I think I've just about seen every word in them. Where does the bible go into detail regarding the arc angels? I've always heard there are/were three, maybe four and that Lucifer is fallen. I'd like to read for myself these passages to see if what I've heard and believe is in sync with the bible.

Another question: with all the James', Johns, Judas', Josephs, etc. in the New Testament it is hard to keep up with who is who. Who was Joseph, Jesus' mothers husband? I've heard he was a very sought after carpenter, even becoming wealthy and that some of his work survives today. What are some sources of reading about Joseph? Did he and Jesus work on projects together? Were carpenters in that era also stone cutters?

As far as I know, it does not go into great detail about the angels. They are mentioned throughout, but not in great detail. As for satan being thrown down from heaven, you can find that in Revelation 12, and in Isaiah 14. I don't know if this is what you are looking for.

Where does the bible go into detail regarding the arc angels? I've always heard there are/were three, maybe four and that Lucifer is fallen. I'd like to read for myself these passages to see if what I've heard and believe is in sync with the bible. The Bible only mentions two archangels that I am aware--- Michael and Gabriel. However, the idea of other archangels is found in apocryphal books. The book of Enoch (almost canonized) deals excessively with both angelogy and demonlogy. Some other archangels are Rafael, Uriel, and Metatron (he's my favorite) the angel of geometry. The highest archangels were compared to the four cardinal points and much like the cherubim recorded in Ezekiel probably have astronomical significance, ie. Aquarius (the face of a man), Leo (the face of a lion), Taurus (the face of a bull), and Scorpio (the face of an eagle). There are four bright stars associated with them, ie. Fomalhaut, Regulus, Al Debaron, and Antares but I digress. As for Lucifer, he is alluded to in detail by the scripture's mention of very human rulers in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 and in Revelation. The book of Job mentions him in detail, and the gospels also talk about evil spirits possessing people, so there's actually a lot more to say of the dark forces than the angels because that's the Christian's enemy and one has to understand the workings of both Kingdoms, i.e the Kingdom of the Lord, and that of Satan. Again, in Enoch, it elaborates the "Genesis 6 incident" in quite some detail and it actually calls the "watchers" (fallen angels) by name. There were about 200 of them that cohabited with women if I remember correctly. quote:

I've heard he was a very sought after carpenter, even becoming wealthy and that some of his work survives today. What are some sources of reading about Joseph? Did he and Jesus work on projects together? Were carpenters in that era also stone cutters? The assumption was that Joseph was a carpenter (Matthew 13:55) but some people have problems with the translation given that the Greek word is "tekton" and can imply a skilled craftsman, maybe more a builder of homes or an architect rather than someone who makes something (and probably made a great income). But one thing for certain, Joseph was of the royal house of King David and that must have been common knowledge amongst the people making Jesus have a good sized following looking for a King (albeit not the kind he wanted). (e.g See Matthew 9:27)

Hello leftwing In all of you years, you have not read the New Testament? You must be quit well versed on the Law but do you not know the One that is the fulfillment of the Law? While questions about angels might be of value, seeking the person of Jesus Christ is of much greater value and revelation. As far as Lucifer falling, I think it's covered in Isaiah as well as some of the words of Jesus Himself.

There isn't much about Joseph beyond telling about Jesus' birth and the trip to the temple when Jesus was 12.

never even thouht about this before. Remember in Passion Of The Christ how there was that one scene of mary remembering back to Jesus making that table? that would be very interesting if there was some furniture or what not still around today that jesus crafted. heh. i can see it now "ebay auction of 3 billion dollars over chair made by jesus. comes with certificate of authenticity." ive never really thought about joseph before, but it kinda makes you wonder if he left mary, or died or something, cause she's mentioned at the cross, but no mention of him. my wife always says she wishes the bible had been written by women, because there would be more stories and details. lol
