I saw this yesterday after reading the book. Without giving anything away, I was very disappointed in the liberties taken. Has anyone else seen this yet?

I really want to see the movie but I also want to read the book. My daughter saw it and really liked it but she said she cried so much watching it. So I don't know if I should see the movie before reading the book so I won't be disappointed or read the book first.

My opinion is if you haven't read the book, see the movie first, then read the book LOL

I haven't seen it yet but am planning to. I read the book over a year ago so was excited to hear about a movie. When I heard certain things had been changed ,though, not as much. If what I've heard has been changed in the movie from the book to me that really will ruin the whole thing. To me that is a big part of what made that book. The whole book was good but that is what made you really rethink a lot of stuff about that family. If that is changed, well to me, it changes the entire story.

I've read the book and saw the film last week. The film has a different focus than the book; it has to otherwise it would be an epic! The film is very well acted but they had too leave large chunks out. On particular part of the film may seem incongruent to those who haven't read the book. I was ok with the one big thing they changed because I don't think it would have gone down well with film audiences, most of whom will not have read the book. Take tissues when you go to see it.
