6 hours until Pierre arrives.

I got the Explorer washed today.

Washed sheets and towels, too.

Filled bird feeders.

I should go drag out the trash cans, but it's sunny and hot out there and I think I'll wait a few more hours.... then maybe DH will come home and do it.

Harvie, are you more excited about Pierre or the air conditioning?

Four hours until dh is home. H should get into the airport at 10pm.

Just popping in here...

No A/C in our place in Lebanon but up here it's not really needed. The sun shines in the windows in the afternoon but I just put blinds down and turn on fans. It's been pretty warm the last few days but seems to have broken now.

Down in Beirut it's too humid. I'd have A/C there but you're on generator half the day so can't use it anyway. I HATE visiting people down there in the afternoons. Yuck!

Well, off to pick up the kids from camp.

Have a nice day, ladies!

Good morning ladies!

TC - I don't know if I could handle living some place without A/C.

Harvie - how are things going with Pierre? I'm so glad that you decided to give another foreign exchange student a chance.

I'm not one who likes thunderstorms. Especially if they are right are right over the top of the house.

I've got to get new sunglasses. The lenses on mine got all scratched somehow.

We had a super fast moving thunderstorm roll in last night. It was around 2 am (baby woke up to feed) and I had seen the lightning, but the thunder would come several seconds later. Shortly there after, the lightning would strike and just a second later the thunder. It rained hard and the drops must have been really big because it sounded like hail on the windows. Thankfully it wasn't hail because we left the cars out instead of putting them in the garage. The storm probably lasted just an hour or so.

Things are going well with Pierre.

For those of you so inclined, please keep 3-year-old Scampi Cat in your thoughts and prayers. He spent two hours at the vet today and underwent a bunch of tests ($500 worth), now we're waiting for the specific results to decide what to do. He's definitely got some sort of system-wide viral infection ... we're waiting to see what it is (but all the options are very, very serious.) In the meantime, he's in our "isolation ward" (my office) where he has a lovely window, plenty of room, and his own food/water/litterbox.

We'll know more in a few days.

(sigh)

Harvie -- Aw, poor kitty. I hope he feels better soon.

fluffmonkey -- Veronica is doing pretty good. We've had a rough morning. Mary has been really demanding and my nerves are pretty shot. We are having a rough time with the nursing, so that wears me down quick.

Is Pierre having a good time at our cat-filled house?

YES HE IS!

Seriously, so far ... so good! It's been two days, and he seems pretty mellow and easy-going. When he's tired, he goes to bed. When he wants to go swimming, he goes swimming. He got up this morning and went jogging. He's a skinny kid and sort of a picky eater, but we won't let him starve. (He doesn't like chocolate, he doesn't like ice cream or chips of any kind ... but he's cool with burgers and fries and sandwiches!)

Thursday and Friday ... we head to the coast with him and 2 other teens (one from France, one from Mexico.) I've never been on a vacation or a road trip with teens of any sort, much less three boys we don't know -- should be interesting.

No test results back yet on our sick kitty.

THIS IS OUR SICK KITTY, SCAMPI

Sounds like he is adjusting well. And a very healthy young man too! Your white kitty looks like he's in heaven.

Hey everybody.

Nicole, sorry to hear that you're having problems nursing Veronica. I hope that gets sorted out soon. Sounds like Mary's not too happy about not being the youngest any more. How are your 2 oldest doing with Mary and Veronica?

Sarah, how did your job interview go? What was the job for?

Sounds like Pierre's doing well. Doesn't like chocolate or icecream? That's unusual in a kid. Oh well, he'd stay healthy.

Sorry to hear your cat's not doing too well, Harvie. I hope something can be done about it that is helpful. Your isolation ward sounds great!

My job interview went well. It was a job to be and Teacher's Aide in a preschool classroom. Early Childhood Education is my major after all. Now I will wait.

Sarah, glad to hear your job interview went well, I hope you hear something back soon. I'll say a prayer for ya!

The not-liking-chocolate thing is particularly unusual in a European kid.

By the way, I speak French, Harvie--let me know if you'd like to know how to say something completely outrageous in French to startle your exchange student.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The older two kids are HUGE helpers with Mary and Veronica. Well, I'm really the only one that does anything for Veronica right now, but Rachael especially will help me with Mary.

I did a little "experiment" and tried giving Veronica a paci and well, she didn't seem to mind it too much, but holy smokes when Mary saw that ... Well, I believe her world was coming to an end. (fyi, Mary is very attached to her paci). So when she saw me trying to give one to Veronica, she was not happy at all. Like Ryan said, she thinks there is only room for one queen in the house and that's her.

Today is the first time I have ever called the police non-emergency number. Off the street from where I work there was a stalled car in the left-hand turn lane. The people weren't even doing anything... still just sitting in the car. I went to get gas, then drove back past the same place and the people were still sitting there. Went to the post office. On the way back I turned onto the stalled car street so I could see if it was still there. Yep. It had been like 30 minutes at that point. Maybe the people were scared to get out and push their car since there were lots of cars going around them so they could turn left? I think it was obvious they needed help since in 30 minutes they made no progress on getting their car moved.

Well no one will stop and help anymore.. that upsets me more as a single female than the car breaking down itself. Plus if you call triple AAA than there can be a wait.

Yup. I've had way more cheap and unreliable cars than I care to think about. It hard when no one will help you. Then again, I always also worried about whomever was stopping to help too. KWIM?
