Yep Now I'm offended... I imagine that folks do order it, and she mis-heard me. I'm trying to let it go. To me, she gave me a bonus I wasn't paying for - I just didn't want it. At least she didn't add whipping topping too... I was really annoyed about waiting for coffee. I know it is summertime, but you shouldn't have to wait that long... Sugar depends on two things - age of coffee and level of energy needed. Cream? Ick. Although I will put a smidge of English Toffee Cappicino in before I fill the cup if I feel fancy. About 5 times a year.

And I don't like coffee in my ice cream, either. Not a coffee drinker here. Dee

We won't even have a clue as to our school fees until registration in August. It varies per grade and once they are in highschool per course. My kids only get 2 yearbooks their entire school career - one their 8th grade year and one when they graduate. If they want one any other year they have to pay for it themselves. If I were to buy each of them a yearbook each year I could easily spend over $100 a year once they all hit middle and high school! And I really don't see a need for an elementary school yearbook, although it would have been helpful the other day when we were at the library and these two kids come running up saying "Mrs. Thomas! Mrs. Thomas!" I knew their faces, but to put names to faces was impossible. I know one of them was a kindergartener, but her brother I couldn't place at all. My kids actually got along today, for the most part! Funny how not being able to fight over the electronics does wonders for them playing together! In fact I have one child that is restricted tomorrow as well. All because she refused to listen to me regarding changing her clothes! Just a simple request that took me repeating several times and finally handing down restrictions before she changed. I'm actually going to go to bed early tonight. Blessings, Garsy

A.K.A. why do my kids have to spend a good portion of every waking hour fighting??? That's the $64,000 question. I wish I knew. So far my kids haven't wanted a year book. Neither of the boys did, not even as seniors, and Linz hasn't asked. We haven't had any fees yet either. I'm glad everyone liked the fireworks. :)

The only elementary school yearbooks I've seen were handed out free, if I remember right. They were pretty simple. Probably just for the one class though. And I think I remember all of one of them... Were both of those yearbooks for high school Deb? Our middle school yearbooks are a lot less than the hs ones. How many here buy their kids class rings in HS? No fees here yet either.

Linz got a class ring already, they sell them in sophomore year here, but neither of the boys did. I still have mine, 36 years later. I've never worn it outside of high school, but I still have it.

We got E a purity ring for her birthday towards the end of her freshman year, so we didn't get her a class ring. At the time she wanted one (class ring); I'm not sure she cares anymore. I think I will give my other kids a choice between the two. We will see. E picked out the purity ring she wanted and still wears it. R lost her first tooth tonight; she was so excited!!! It was very cute. Dee

Dd has asked about getting a class ring and I think we'll get her one. I have mine too Kath and I don't think I've worn it since hs.

Our elementary year books are $10. High School is $40. No school fees, no required supplies. Right now, I am very frustrated by Boy Scouts. I have this leader...and lets just say he looks for trouble or creates trouble when he can't find it and then blames me and my sweetie. About a year ago I said he goes or I do and that was before the emails to council started. Today it went around again but ended with his request to 'transfer' out of the troop. There is no 'transfer out' without an 'in' to go to, so he quit. I guess I have to stay but he has done enough damage and is still in Cubs that this may eventually close the troop. I'm not happy. I'm going shopping and think I am making poor mans gumbo for supper.

We had our 26 year HS reunion tonight. It was at the home of one of my classmates, she lives out in the country. It was a potluck, and very laid back and casual. Just how I like things. Kids were welcome; there was plenty of room for them to play. The classmates I hung out with the most weren't there, but there were still some I was glad to see. I graduated from a class of about 52 kids. I think around 17 were there tonight. Dee

It sounds nice, Dee. We had too many kids in our class to be able to do that. I've never been to a reunion. I don't think we've had any for a long time anyway. I know one time when someone called me about it, she complained about the class president and how it's his job to get it organized but he could not care less about it. I did just join facebook with my real name (I use a different last name on my crosswalk facebook page) and found a few people I went to school with. I hardly recognized some of them, ok, most of them.

Kath, I've thought about joining Facebook; it would be a good way to connect with some of those folks from the past. We wore name tags last night cause people change a lot in 26 years. Well, some folks do, other people look pretty much the same. We hadn't had a reunion in a while; I remember 3 others. 7 years, 10 years, and maybe a 15 year one? I don't even remember who our class president was, I think a couple of people were just talking and decided to do something. We got the postcard less than 3 weeks ago. No school fees, that would be nice. In HS there is a base amount of fees, then more are added on depending on what classes you take. Like the art and drawing classes are maybe $10 more. I don't mind buying school supplies so much; they are usually pretty cheap. MBee, does your school also supply calculators for high school math classes? How about band instruments? I wouldn't be up this early; we are already back from the scouts raising the flag for the July 4th activities at the park. Hubby would have taken young scout, but he had opportunity to work. So I figured I could sacrifice a little sleep. I just wish I knew if N needed to do any more flag raisings for any badges. But I guess it's good to go anyway. As was, only 3 were there. Dee

But, Kath, your answer was so good, I'll could just say 'ditto' You can sign out calculators and pen drives, but if they aren't returned, you need to pay. Instruments are bought by parents (rent to own from a music store), but there are some used ones available and I think there are folks who will sponser your child if need be. Is he still in cubs? Yep, but he is a Committee Chairman, not a leader per se. However he can do damage. We had a meeting a month ago between the units and the district. We talked about building membership and recruiting and I suggested a pool party. Everyone said great. I booked the pool and gave the info to one district fellow. He dressed it up and said that "Tr 41 and Pack 60 invite you to...." and this fellow wasn't CONSULTED about the date, his not-son wasn't given the chance to plan and I was undermining the organization. I called the Cubmaster (pack leader) and he said - we all agreed at the meeting, what is the big deal? and took down the info. Meanwhile, this fellow was calling all the parents that weren't asked before I planned this to see if the date is ok.

So this guy is a control freak MBee? Doesn't sound good. Sure, anybody answer my questions. When my oldest daughter was a freshman we had to go out and buy one for Algebra; she wanted it right away so we couldn't get a cheap one from Wal-Mart. K took Algebra as an 8th grader and the teacher had enough calculators for everybody; they weren't as nice as her regular scientific calculator. So each teacher does it different here maybe? E thought was was going to want a graphing calculator for her College Algebra, but we ended up not getting one and she just used the schools. Here we buy or rent to own the instruments. I'm not sure what happens if you would want to be in band but couldn't afford the instrument. You can rent them from the school but I don't know if you can start out that way. When E started band we rented to own her instrument, and then I found the exact same clarinet on the internet cheaper. So I bought it and we turned in the rent to own clarinet at the end of the 60 or 90 days we agreed to and it still came out cheaper or us. I bought N's saxophone used, I'm not sure how good it is. But he will start using it this fall. In fact, just this morning K told N that she wanted to teach him how to play it today. Dee

Here we only pay fees for certain classes: art, science (lab fee), driver's ed, foreign language, freshman english. Science calculators can be borrowed, but my kids said they sometimes didn't work, so we bought them early from Office Depot/Walmart for $75/80. Our elementary yearbooks are $12, our highschool ones are $90 (you can pay 1/2 at registration, then 1/2 in April). Our yearbooks come in May, so the prom, some spring sports and spring musical pics aren't in there until next year. I think I would rather pick them up over the summer and get those pics in the mix, but it's been that way since before I graduated and hasn't changed in A LOT of years.

The problem with Poppa's promotion (my problem with it?) He doesn't always leave work when I want him to come home. Take today. I could have used 1/2 hour earlier than usual, but he is 15 minutes later. How will he help me find the paperwork I need before we leave the house by 4pm if he isn't here???? Having said that - maybe I could look again, instead of complaining? But, I find it funny because he would say the same thing when I was working. And, my call back date is bumped back.
