Ooohhh...I was the first to vote. And we left first thing on Sunday for our honeymoon. Although we did come back early because his son was being confirmed (is that the right word?) the following Sunday.

Married on Friday night. Did not attend church that Sunday. We were doing what honeymooners do. Did we have to justify or explain? Of course not! This makes me think CULT.

Got married Friday during the day. Drove to Ocean Grove (a Christian community on the Jersey shore) and spent Saturday and Sunday in Church. We got to hear Lloyd Pulley and Charles Stanely preach. We are going back this year in August for our 1 year anniversary to hear them again.

Could you expand the poll to ask singles what they think they would do?

Just to add a little thought to the conversation, most (many?) Messianics go to services on Sabbath, the husband-to-be aliyahs (go up to read Torah) followed by a special blessing on the couple. Then the wife-to-be reads the portion from the prophets. They get married the next day -- on Sunday. Abiyah (Just for OneOfHisJewels! :-D)

Married on Friday, was in church on Sunday -- not because we had to be there but because we wanted to be there.

Married on Saturday afternoon. Drove a couple (2-3) hours that evening to our first destination. Went to the evening service of a local church the next day. The next Sunday we were in Montreal and couldn't easily find a church with services in English, so we didn't go.

Actually, I misspoke - we got married Saturday afternoon and went to church a week later. But we got there 10 minutes before the service ended, because of daylight savings time. Sigh. We tried! (When you're born again, everything you do is spiritual. Every thing that God gives you to do, decently and in order, is an act of worship and obedience!)

Nope. A few things may have crossed our minds, but this was not one. True story- my parents did go to a service and got soundly scolded by a little older lately who was quite put out that they had the audacity to show up at church after such "scandalous" behavior the prior evening.

We were not Christians when we married. We got married on the Friday after Thanksgiving and if I recall correctly we met with family the next morning for a big breakfast with all the visiting relatives.

We got married near Barcelona (Premia de Dalt) on a Thursday, spent the first night in Bruc near Montserrat, and then spent the weekend in a town in the Pyrenees with no churches around for miles (except Roman Catholic, and we weren't about to go there.) My wife and I both understand Castilian, and I understand Catalan, but the nearest church to us must have been at least 25 miles away, if not 50 or 100, and we didn't go. We got back to Barcelona on Monday or Tuesday, if I recall correctly, and then went to church the following Sunday. By the way, the church we had been planning to get married in closed down a few months before our wedding date when the pastor left Spain to go to the USA. Once he left, the town was left with no Protestant churches once again, as his had been the only one in town. It's the town that Ricky Rubio is from. I don't know if there is a church there today or not. When we left Spain in 1996, there were whole zip code sections of Barcelona where there was still no evangelical (Protestant) church, and several huge provinces or parts of provinces with no Gospel witness.
