Nope. We were out of town and not anywhere near our church. I doubt seriously if we would have gone even if we had been in town. We were definitely too caught up in each other to be even remotely interested in being around anyone else that weekend!

Yes - only because we wanted to say good bye to some people who hadn't been able to attend the wedding the day before. We left in a moving van shortly after services were over.

No but we had Communion in the hot tub that week out on the balcony in the mountains. I think it was 3 weeks before we made it back to our home church.

We got married Saturday evening and didn't go to church the next day. Didn't even consider it, really. <shrug>

We got married on a Saturday at 12:30pm (no option for early afternoon weddings), had a 2 hour reception (ended at 4pm), stayed on the Delta King (a restored riverboat) in Sacramento that night, then on Sunday morning went back to our home to get packed for our honeymoon in Cambria (along Hwy 1 on the California coast, just south of Hearst Castle) and stopped in Vacaville to attend the church where an old friend of my husband's was the youth pastor. I said that all in one breath! Woohoo!

We got married on Saturday and no we didn't attend church on Sunday. We were enjoying our honeymoon. That was our preference and to each their own. Nothing wrong with going to church the next day if that is what you both prefer.

Here's our (very narrative!) story; a) We were married by the J.P. - neither one was anything close to - "Church-goers". b) Our so-called - "Honeymoon", happened years after we got hitched. That - "M", word, ya know? c) We renewed our vows in Church about ten yrs after the J.P. d)We did take a few days away about 1999 or so. And that was our - "Honeymoon". -charles

ORIGINAL: GroupW True story- my parents did go to a service and got soundly scolded by a little older lately who was quite put out that they had the audacity to show up at church after such "scandalous" behavior the prior evening. I knew a few people like that...sadly. We did not. I know of one guy who was on lay staff at his church. THey had a late evening wedding (7 or 8 pm) and he was at the pre-service staff meeting less than 12 hours later, taught a sunday school class, sang in the choir and was in another staff meeting most of the afternoon..... Not my idea of a good way to start off a marriage. He disagreed, saying that the Lord's work always had to come first.

ORIGINAL: GrannyofSix I was taught that all sex and sexually feelings were nasty and not to be even thought of much less recognized. So when I did get married, I was so embarrassed, I couldn't go to church for several weeks. I was married in church by our pastor, yet I felt like hiding my face because everybody knew "what I had done". Sounds like both these people had that same teaching....

We were married on the Saturday before Easter, and I was pastoring at the time, and we didn't go the next day. Our wedding was in a cabin in Branson, and we spent the time with our closest friends and family, and we did our own service of sorts there, but we didn't go to a church service.

I remember the date but not so much which day it was. We got married in the backyard with family and friends who are almost family. The next day we took off on a cruise. Since we hope to honor God everyday we didn't even think about HAVING to go to church to please the Lord. Besides, our then pastor always had a way of sneaking a sermon into a wedding ceremony. We've since moved and we miss him and his family.

If the "off topic" comment was meant for me, I am trying to point out that when we discuss attending church during the honeymoon, we wrongly assume that there is a church to attend somewhere near the place we are honeymooning. In many parts of the world, there is no church to attend, so it is very hard to go to church during a honeymoon in that place. I suppose people could limit their honeymoon locations to places where there is a church nearby, but I don't think many couples choose their honeymoon spot based on that criterion.

There's no way I could have kept a straight face! I bet that old gal never read between the lines of the Song of Solomon, either. Scandulous, indeed!

We got married Saturday afternoon and didn't attend church the next morning. We were still in town and I refused to go to my home church and deal with the "wink, wink, nudge, nudge" from everyone who knew me for just about forever. It wouldn't have been crude or mean spirited but it would have embarrassed me and would have put things on a bad tone. And no it never occurred to me to visit another church in town! Kris

We didn't; in our particular case we didn't get to our hotel that evening until 3 am (we had a dance at our wedding) but even if we'd gone to sleep early, I think I would have been embarrassed to go to church the next day, unless we had gone to visit a church where we didn't know anybody. I sort of wish, in retrospect, that we had planned some sort of family get-together for Sunday to see all our out-of-town relatives; we just didn't have the chance to visit at the wedding. Although given that I spent that Sunday afternoon packing for my honeymoon and saw both my old roommates, I didn't exactly succeed in avoiding other people! We didn't attend church until we returned from our honeymoon. There were no English-speaking churches where we went on vacation, although if there had been we may not have gone. If we're traveling anywhere other than to visit family, we don't normally attend church, so this wasn't particularly different; if we traveled more we might make more of a point of it.

Yes we did. We married on Feb 14th, but we didn't go on the honeymoon to Maui till in May - and we looked for a church to attend the one Sunday we were there. We found a really great evangelical free church a few miles from where we were staying. It was wonderful, people very friendly and the greeter had a son that lived a few towns from where we lived in Minnesota! They sang a few hymns in Hawaiian and that was fun and easy to sing. Was one of our best highlights of the honeymoon and if we would move to Maui we know the church we will attend :)
