Show of hands[:D]

No judgements, just curiosity from another thread. You do not have to justify or explain, I am just asking "did you?"

Tinkerbell_ -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 2:40:19 PM)

Ooohhh...I was the first to vote. [:D]

And we left first thing on Sunday for our honeymoon.

Although we did come back early because his son was being confirmed (is that the right word?) the following Sunday.

LizzieJ. -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 3:05:12 PM)

Married on Friday night. Did not attend church that Sunday. We were doing what honeymooners do.[:D]

Did we have to justify or explain? Of course not!

This makes me think CULT.

We got married on a Friday. Travelled all afternoon to get where we needed to go, and spent our entire honeymoon on two different mission compounds. That Sunday we went to church, I don't recall there being any question about it. We just went. [&:]

Got married Friday during the day. Drove to Ocean Grove (a Christian community on the Jersey shore) and spent Saturday and Sunday in Church. We got to hear Lloyd Pulley and Charles Stanely preach. We are going back this year in August for our 1 year anniversary to hear them again.

hnt -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 3:52:11 PM)

Nope! [:D]

We got married on Saturday, and went to get on a plane Sunday to start out the Honeymoon! Our plane was delayed, and the wedding party came to spend the day at the airport with us! It was only suppose to be 2 hours, and ended up being a 12 hour delay. When we finally got in the air Sunday - another delay happened...had to touch down in some small town to stay the night. The next morning (monday) we try again ...lol another 5 hour delay...and we finally got there (our honeymoon location) around dinner time.

lol I think we slept the rest of the day. WE were exhausted!

I don't know if we would have gone to church or not if we had got there on time to be honest.

On the way back? We had to touch down in yet ANOTHER city because of tornadoes! Can you believe it? LOL!

Church wasn't in the cards! [:D] We spent our time in the airport! [:'(]

Mollymouser -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 4:08:18 PM)

Nope.

(But I did get to spend my wedding night in the Emergency Room)

We married on a Saturday. We went home. I think we considered going but we slept late.

Then we went over to a friend's house and played Titanic the board game. [:D] We left for our honeymoon on Monday afternoon.

kohls356 -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 5:59:11 PM)

No we got married on Saturday and Sunday we left (I moved) to where he lived about 5 hours away. We left Monday morning for our honeymoon.

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 8:22:14 PM)

Could you expand the poll to ask singles what they think they would do?

Covaan_Meshuga -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 8:28:09 PM)

Just to add a little thought to the conversation, most (many?) Messianics go to services on Sabbath, the husband-to-be aliyahs (go up to read Torah) followed by a special blessing on the couple. Then the wife-to-be reads the portion from the prophets. They get married the next day -- on Sunday.

Abiyah

(Just for OneOfHisJewels! :-D)

stampinlady -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/1/2009 8:48:50 PM)

Nope. Got married on Sat. had reception in the evening and left for WI Sunday morning.

laura... -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 9:20:56 AM)

Married on Friday, was in church on Sunday -- not because we had to be there but because we wanted to be there.

That's not the kind of phone call a Dad likes to receive.

Been a joke for years, but for most rural GA counties the court clerk who issues marriage licenses is the same who issues gun permits... however, they don't expect you to use them both on the same day! [:D]

No, because it doesn't matter what someone *thinks* they would do. This poll is just to find out what they actually *did.*

See the point of the thread?

OneOfHisJewels -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 12:29:34 PM)

Ok, I'll start another thread for singles, then.

ta_mosquito -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 12:32:57 PM)

Married on Saturday afternoon. Drove a couple (2-3) hours that evening to our first destination. Went to the evening service of a local church the next day.

The next Sunday we were in Montreal and couldn't easily find a church with services in English, so we didn't go.

tiffanyctd -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 1:18:32 PM)

Nope. We got married on Saturday afternoon, and our plane left the next morning at 5:30 AM. [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif] The bell hop at our hotel got a really good tip for knocking on our door until he made sure we were both awake.[:D]

deermousie -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 2:09:52 PM)

Actually, I misspoke - we got married Saturday afternoon and went to church a week later. But we got there 10 minutes before the service ended, because of daylight savings time.

Sigh. We tried!

(When you're born again, everything you do is spiritual. Every thing that God gives you to do, decently and in order, is an act of worship and obedience!)

GroupW -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 2:15:34 PM)

Nope. A few things may have crossed our minds, but this was not one.

True story- my parents did go to a service and got soundly scolded by a little older lately who was quite put out that they had the audacity to show up at church after such "scandalous" behavior the prior evening.

How rude of her!

42servehymn -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 3:54:07 PM)

We were not Christians when we married. We got married on the Friday after Thanksgiving and if I recall correctly we met with family the next morning for a big breakfast with all the visiting relatives.

Yeah I read it as funny too. [:D]

I guess it's good to interpret things in a lighthearted way huh. lol

I went to church the night before our honeymoon. Ha.

Shrommer -> RE: Did you attend church on your honeymoon? (7/2/2009 4:39:26 PM)

We got married near Barcelona (Premia de Dalt) on a Thursday, spent the first night in Bruc near Montserrat, and then spent the weekend in a town in the Pyrenees with no churches around for miles (except Roman Catholic, and we weren't about to go there.) My wife and I both understand Castilian, and I understand Catalan, but the nearest church to us must have been at least 25 miles away, if not 50 or 100, and we didn't go. We got back to Barcelona on Monday or Tuesday, if I recall correctly, and then went to church the following Sunday. By the way, the church we had been planning to get married in closed down a few months before our wedding date when the pastor left Spain to go to the USA. Once he left, the town was left with no Protestant churches once again, as his had been the only one in town. It's the town that Ricky Rubio is from. I don't know if there is a church there today or not. When we left Spain in 1996, there were whole zip code sections of Barcelona where there was still no evangelical (Protestant) church, and several huge provinces or parts of provinces with no Gospel witness.
