How did I miss this thread? Birth parents who place their children for adoption have just as much rights to privacy as anyone else. Most birth moms whom I know, want to be found. However, I have a sil who does not want to be found. She was raped and gave birth to a baby when she was around 15. That baby would be about 35 now. However, she has had other children. They want to find their sibling. She has given them consent to search with the promise that they won't reveal her identity to the baby. Some women do change their minds though and decide they are open to a reunion. I am an adoptee who was reunited with her birth mom. I had questions.......... especially since I was 4 or 5 the last time I saw her. It would get really frustrating to go to family reunions and hear my cousins talking about looking like this relative or that one. I had no clue who I looked like. My parents were told that both of my birth parents were healthy in every way. Also, since I was almost 8 by the time I was adopted, my parents had no baby pictures of me. The earliest pictures of me where when they brought me and my sister home from the Children's Bureau of SC. I found out some truths that I suspected, but not all that sure I wanted to know. 1- I was conceived as a result of prostitution. There is no information on my birth father, except who my birth mother thinks he might be. 2- My sister and I were taken away because our birth mom was highly neglectful and extremely abusive. 3- I very strongly resemble my birth mom's family. 4- Most of the people in my birth mom's family only live to be in their mid-50s or so because they have so many heart problems, cancer and mental illnesses that lead to suicide. (My birth mom passed away 18 months after we were reunited. She had a cancerous brain tumor.) 5- I now have a picture of myself on my first birthday and another one from my fourth birthday. (If I could figure out how to make them into an avatar, I would.) Is reuniting for everyone? Certainly not. There is good and bad that can come from it.

Don't worry, I'm quite sure you also very closely resemble your real family. 2 Corinthians 3:18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

That is part of how I came up with the first nickname that I used on the boards...... Hischild.
