Went for a run/walk today. My legs protested every step without my listening; the stitch in my side had better luck being heard.

I must figure out a strategy for running outdoors at lunchtime when it's 95 degrees with the humidity.

That's easy, pretend it's wintertime, go out in your winter coat, boots, hat and mittens or gloves. That ought to help you think cool thoughts!

I do my summer running on the dreadmill. I ran two miles, walked a mile, and did circuit strength training. It had been a few days because my dh was out of town.

Hm. Naaaahhh. My brain might be convinced, but I really don't think my body would be. Especially my lungs; as a former asthmatic I'm always a bit hyper-conscious about my lungs. I also have an undiagnosed minor heart arrhythmia; once every few days my heart will "skip a beat" so I'm a little paranoid that it will affect my exercise efforts, although my doctor has told me I'm fine as long as it's occasional.

Went to my weights class yesterday, and finally figured out why one of the classes I go to is always full; there's an abs and a back class on Wednesdays that isn't offered on other days, so people seem to arrange their workout schedule around that, hence the full weights class on Tuesdays. So now I'm going to stick to weights on Wednesdays and I shouldn't have trouble getting in.

That's great! I often take a camera with me when I go jogging, to take pictures of landscaping I like. Way to kill two birds with one stone!

Just got back from my cardio dance class. I always work a little less hard when it's new choreography; too busy trying not to trip over my feet!

I ran 30 yesterday on the treadmill and actually felt I could have gone several minutes more but wanted to do the weights. I just rode my bike in extremely high humidity just now and felt like I sweated out everything I've drank all week. Now I'll cut grass and thank goodness I'll ride my mower. whew!

There are several high-humidity runners in the running thread. You might post over there for tips. I'll be experimenting with a "phase change cooler" in my hat for my long run tomorrow and I'll be posting the results in the other thread.

I ended up doing another 2 mile walk yesterday afternoon. Today my husband and I drove to Castle Rock Colorado and climbed to the base of Castle Rock. I think it was about .8 miles up and .8 miles back down and about a 300 foot rise in altitude. Much more of a psychological challenge for me than a physical one (fear of falling) but I think my legs got a pretty good workout. It was probably better than a 2 mile walk on flat ground or a bike ride.

I was pleased this morning that I wasn't too sore from yesterday's climb to go for a walk. It is before 7am and I already have 2 miles of walking in. I actually feel really good and we are going to try to do that climb again next Saturday.

I've not done too well with exercising this week, but I plan to do better today, despite my sore throat and congestion.

Also, my friends in Omaha, Nebraska told me about a new tax that their mayor plans to impose. This 2% entertainment tax includes fitness facilities. Since when does working out count as "entertainment"?

I have been on vacation for the past week or most of it. We did a lot of walking. So that is good. But we ate a lot! :)

I am going to the gym tonight. Wish me luck on my run!

Hmmm, gym is entertainment? I am not amused when I go. Too bad.

Yeah once in a while there is when people are showing off but looking stupid, that is entertainment.

I walked another 2 miles after work and vacuumed the whole house plus carried the vacuum up 2 flights of stairs and down 2 flights. Edited to add: I think a gym membership should fall under healthcare.
