In Sweden, a Pentecostal pastor was indicted, convicted and sentenced to 30 days in jail for violating a law criminalizing “hate speech” against homosexuals when he gave the Biblical view of homosexuality during a Sunday worship service.

And in Mount Vernon, Illinois, two FBI agents interrogated a pastor after an anonymous informant complained about his sermon that quoted the Bible’s condemnation of homosexuality.

Under Thought Control, the FBI could begin hunting down and investigating pastors, me or even you at a moment’s notice.

In fact, I wouldn’t even be allowed to write you this email. I would be engaging in criminal activity.

Go to:
http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/hostedemail/email.htm?h=572498ca987705bad165e02457ce8a34&CID=4361824395&ch=367FBE5B59162350C5D7B625DD3F0E14

Don't know if this is the right place for this post or not. I don't think it should be stuck in the homosexual forum, because it is about them taking away our First Amendment right of freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Your first paragraph about a Swedish preacher seems to come from a blog claiming this event happening in 2005. Ironically, the gays there actually defended his right to speak his mind (more "tolerant" than in the USA ). It was the laws that put him in that position.

I guess a subject like this would fit well in the conspiracy section.

Trying to portray HR 1913 as a "Thought Control" bill is absolutely ridiculous, and patently false. Here is the main portion of the bill:

(2) OFFENSES INVOLVING ACTUAL OR PERCEIVED RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN, GENDER, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, OR DISABILITY-

(A) IN GENERAL- Whoever, whether or not acting under color of law, in any circumstance described in subparagraph (B), willfully causes bodily injury to any person or, through the use of fire, a firearm, a dangerouse weapon, or an explosive or incendiary device, attempts to cause bodily injury to any person, because of the actual or perceived religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of any person--

`(i) shall be imprisoned not more than 10 years, fined in accordance with this title, or both; and

`(ii) shall be imprisoned for any term of years or for life, fined in accordance with this title, or both, if--

`(I) death results from the offense; or

`(II) the offense includes kidnaping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill.

Assuming your thoughts don't cause bodily injury to others I think you're safe.

Throughout this bill it specifically lays out the acts (not thoughts, acts) that must be committed for something to be considered a hate crime. The words "thought", "speech", "word", "offend" aren't contained anywhere in the bill.

The line on the website that says "That’s why I must have your help, signed petition and a generous contribution today" probably should have tipped you off that this is a shameless attempt at fear mongering and fund raising.

No - he was later cleared.

quote:

2005-FEB-11: Sweden: Pastor acquitted of hate speech: Aake Green, a Pentecostal minister in Sweden had been convicted under an anti-hate speech law after he delivered a sermon in church which denounced homosexuals as a "a deep cancer tumor on all of society." He linked it to pedophilia and bestiality. Prosecutor Kjell Yngvesson argued that Green "expressed disdain for the homosexuals as a group. He compared the sermon to a racist shouting out the Nazi salute 'Sieg Heil'."
An appeals court overturned Green's 30 day jail sentence, saying:
"The purpose of making agitation against gays punishable is not to prevent arguments or discussions about homosexuality, not in churches or in other parts of society."
Ralph Toerner, a priest of the Holy Catholic Church said:
"This indicates that the justice system works, and that it gives a certain amount of protection to us who preach God's word...But at the same time, I think this should be a warning signal to preachers overall, that they shouldn't use such coarse language when talking about something sensitive. The Christian faith is not about judging people."
Nystroem, a spokesperson of the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education said:
"To say these things in a public setting is to call for action [against gays]. It's one thing to be against homosexuality, but when you're urging people to take action in the way he did, it's a completely different matter."
Swedish Archbishop Karl Gustav Hammar calling the sermon "a miserable theology." He said:
"It's not a question of the freedom of the pulpit. The sermon was evidently sent out to the media to create a reaction."

SOURCE

I don't think calling homosexuals a cancer on society is just expressing a biblical view. But he was cleared and it was determined that this was not the proper use of the law.

Could we please get the Internet updated once in a while?
