Hi, Hope this is in the right place. My son's fiance just graduated from college. I want to get her something nice for a gift. Son gave her a sterling silver link bracelet a few years ago, and she has one charm on it. I was thinking of getting her a charm to commemorate her graduation and maybe have it engraved. My 20 year old dd seems to think graduation charms are more for the high school students. Just want to know from the recent female college grads if you would appreciate a charm for a bracelet or would something else mean more. My thoughts are as time goes on I will give her other charms for other special occasions. Thank you for replying.

I JUST graduated from college and I probably would not have fancied a bracelet. My mother got me a hope chest instead. For me, that meant so much. For another person that might seem like a ridiculous gift. I think it all depends on the girl. If she likes jewelry or trinkets then I love the idea of a charm bracelet as a gift and it could definitely help build a bond. I do like the idea of adding charms to it throughout your lifetimes. If she's the sort that likes jewelry then you've made a very wise decision for the gift. Above all, if the gift is from the heart that's what matters most. -reba.

I wouldn't have wanted a bracelet either, but if it's one of the girl's favorite things, she'd probably like the idea. I graduated in May, and all my other friends who ended up in my boat (of being scientists or something health-related) are poor at the moment. (Big surprise.) One of my friends got me some "memorabilia" from the university and put it into a package. If I'm financially able when the rest of my friends graduate, I might do that for them with some shirts, tags/alumni tag frames/car window stickers/jewelry and fill up a decent-sized basket with things. I did get some jewelry that I appreciated, but my friends know what kind of jewelry I like. I think as long as you know she's into it, it's fine. Even if she doesn't like it, I think she'd value the fact that you got her something.

Congratulations to all of you! I recently graduated as well. On June 14 to be exact. I got a new suit for my graduation. I'm not a female graduate but I will gladly take that silver bracelet. Not really sure what I can do with a bracelet but I'll take it.

Not a recent grad, but I have a charm bracelet that I collected charms for -- I don't remember if I have one commemorating college graduation. If you know that she really likes wearing the charm bracelet, then getting her a charm for it might be a good idea -- even one that's not "graduation" in theme. Maybe something that represents her interests, her gifts, or her talents. Or just something pretty. Charms aren't necessarily expensive, so if you can afford to get her something to go with it, then do a combo gift. Does she have a hobby that you could get her a nice supply item for? (Like... really nice pastels, paints and brushes... for an artist. A leather-bound journal for a writer.) Or her favorite Scripture on a plaque or as part of a painting? Or a nice keepsake box (The Bombay Company used to sell these). Or a really nice photo album or scrapbook.

I'm still in college but I would be happy with that=] She already has the bracelet, so yes, I would be happy with another special charm from someone who cared about me. =]

I would just pray and obey the Lord Jesus. He knows what will touch the heart and mean a lot to someone. Everyone is different. I trust He will help you to do His will. I really appreciate the graduation gifts that I received. I know they were from The Lord Jesus. They touched my heart and bring me joy and I think that is most important in a gift.
