I'm not a KJO but thought this was interesting
when I heard about it.

LINK

thee = singular
Ye = plural

Could make some passages take on a new light.

Lapidoth, Shalom.

Well said. I, too, have always enjoyed the beauty of the Thee's and Thou's, of the Old, formal English.

At the end of the article I noticed the presentation: "Don't be amazed what I tell "you,"
that "everyone" must be born again." the word 'Ye' is far more appropriate, you know. It is so much easier for Southerners to use the 'Ye.' Example: ...that Ye'all must be born again. That kind of has a ring.

Me thinks I should go to bed, as my giddiness refuses to wane. Does't thou know the milady?

In Messiah. Arley

PS: I believe that 'Thee' also represents the First Person 'Familiar.'

English used to have the same distinction that currently exists in French - a formal "you" and an informal or intimate "you." Vous and Tu. I do not remember which was which.

In Elizabethan English, "You" was considered the formal, distant, respectfull version. "Thee" was the informal version, used for family members and close friends.

It was amazing what came up when I googled "thee and thou".

There was information I could use to debunk what I had heard.
But the part about William Tyndale was what validated what I
heard from the speaker.

Part of the history of the language also had a slant of
superior vs. inferior. Which still fit as Jesus was superior to
Nicodemus.

The rules of language can be a bit overwhelming to a hillbilly.
But just to have a code to render singular vs. plural was pretty simple.

Anyway, thee and thou has a new meaning for me................LOL

See Ye'all later.
And don't "thou" me. Thou as in noun and verb?
