Ooo...Bare Necessities sets the bar pretty high, but alas, I can't put it on the top of my list. My favorite Disney movie... is a tie. Aladdin and Mary Poppins. Both of them are fun movies, and both have killer soundtracks. I can't decide on a #1. On one hand you have memorable toe tappers from Aladdin like, "Arabian Nights", "Friend Like Me", and "Prince Ali", but on the other hand you have classics like "Chim Chim Cher-ee", "Step In Time", "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", "Jolly Holiday"... pretty much the whole soundtrack. Impossible to choose, I tell you!

Bedknobs and Broomsticks - Portobello Road (I love this song!) I also agree with ManimalX about "Chim Chim Cheree". I like the fact that it could be a fast-paced, fun song and could also have a slow, haunting feel to it.

Beauty and the Beast hands down is Disney Best Animated Movie. Best song from the movie is the Beauty and the Beast but from the Broadway show would have to be If I Can't Love Her.

I vaguely recall my dad taking me to see "Song of The South" when I was very small. But in regards to the song in question, as far as I know it's still readily available. Copies of the movie can also be found on Ebay.

The older Disney movies had fun songs (Zippity Doo-dah, Bare Necessities, etc.), more recent ones have sappy, serious songs - No Way Out (from Brother Bear) Can You Feel The Love Tonight, etc. It follows a cultural trend in children's shows and cartoons that puts a burden on the characters to learn or grow culturally and emotionally. I mean, really, did Daffy Duck ever grow emotionally? Let kids be kids when they watch and stop being so serious.

I actually think that's one of the worst. Thats ok everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. What I love about Beauty and the Beast though is that it is like the only fairy tale where they actually talk to each other and interact for more then 2 minutes before declaring their undying love toward each other. They grow in their relationship and that is something that is missing from the older Disney movies (don't get me wrong I love all the classics) but its nice to see a real love story in Beauty and the Beast and not the love at first sight nonsense that is in previous movies. If I Can't Love Her from the Broadway show is hands down my favorite broadway song because it really gets into what Beast is feeling and how trapped he feels and the repraise always makes me tear up because my heart is breaking for Beast thinking he has lost Belle.

How could I forget this one! "Not in Nottingham" is a fantastic song! Whenever my boys watch this one, one of our dogs goes absolutely bonkers when the rooster bard whistles his song really high at the beginning.

ORIGINAL: SuspenseWriter "Zippity-Doo-Dah," from the only Disney movie ever banned, Song of the South. John... shame on you, being a writer and all. It is called "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah"! Also, as far as being "politically correct", you guys are right. It would never fly nowadays even though it is all about the friendship of an old black man and a white kid who adores him. Similarly, Peter Pan's "What Makes a Red Man Red?" will probably not see the light of day any time soon.

Best song has to go to "When You Wish Upon A Star" from Pinocchio. Is there any more iconic Disney song ever? I don't think so... As to the best movie...that's an exercise in futility as I see it. The volume of movies put out by Disney makes it near impossible to pick one. This is assuming you include all types of films: live action, documentary, and animated. For the sake of argument and assuming you mean only the animated films, you would have to give a lot of points to "Beauty and the Beast" since it was the only animated film ever nominated as Best Picture by the Academy (the legitimacy of the Academy Awards as a true measure of greatness being an entirely different debate). One would also have to consider "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" because of its Academy recognition in a time when cartoons weren't even considered legitimate films. Then, what do you do with the computer animated films of Pixar? Toy Story was ground-breaking and movies like Wall-E and Up continue to boggle the mind. It might be easier to pick the worst Disney movie ever... For my part, the Disney movie I've always enjoyed and continue to enjoy is "The Fox and the Hound".
