Should charities such as Make-a-Wish screen the celebs they work with? Should a sick child automatically get to meet their "hero" actor, singer, sports person as long as the person is willing...regardles of any shadiness in the person's private life?

I ask because there are a lot of celebs that I think are sincere about their charity work...but their private (behind-closed-doors...or not so much depending on the person) life is in such a way that I can't imagine allowing a child to like them. Don't get me wrong there are celebs I am a fan of without agreeing with everything they do in their personal lives. But I am an adult who can see "Hey this person has some good qualities but they aren't superman." Should we allow a precious sick child to have their moment of joy of meeting their fave celeb, even if we know things about the person that are really rotten? As long as the child doesn't know about the "private" life and isn't emulating that, is it okay to let them look at the good qualities the person has?

Such is the nature of marketing. If the cause is just and worthy I personally will decide whether their spokesman choice 'overpowers' the cause for, actually, I have no(little)control over that but I can vote with my wallet(or card credit)! It's always amusing to me how some people persist on majoring on minors they(and we)can't control because of others choices yet the other 2% we can we're much less attentive to.

If a child has no idea about the private life of a "hero"...should we deny them the pleasure of meeting the person? These are often terminally-ill children who won't live long enough to even know their heroes aren't perfect.

LCannon, I am sorry but I don't understand your post at all. Could you clarify please?

Stella, I see your point.

You are speaking as though a corrupt tree can have good fruit, which according to the Lord Jesus Christ, it cannot. There is no such thing with God as a somewhat good person, or mostly a good person. With God, the person has to make them self good and their fruit good; or else their self corrupt and their fruit corrupt. Again, there is no such thing as we can do good, ans yet keep our darling sin; it is exactly that one corrupt fruit that you are known by with God.

I see your point now LCannon. It doesn't matter how much charity work a person does if they don't admit they are a sinner and accept Christ into their hearts, they are hellbound. That doesn't really answer my OP though. Should a charity work with a celeb that has a shady private life?
