Ya know...that's funny - I don't think I've ever seen a sci-fi TV series with a Christmas episode. I guess it doesn't exist in space.

From wiki, about the creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry was raised as a Southern Baptist, he instead considered himself a humanist and agnostic. He saw religion as the cause of many wars and human suffering and made it known to the writers of Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation that religion and mystical thinking were not to be included. According to Brannon Braga, in Roddenberry's vision of Earth's future, everyone was an atheist and better for it.
I guess that explains it.

bummer...I was just thinking how cool a sci-fi Chrstmas tree would be as well as outside lighting decorations and all that...

Christmas is not about Christ. it's like trying to make a night club/bar Holy. the traditions of Christmas have nothing to do with God or Jesus. As a matter of fact they have a lot to do with other gods. despite all the warm fuzzy memories and picture perfect fireplace futures i once envisioned waking up to the tugs from my children hurrying me to the presents....it's no longer a "go."
God started working on my heart last fall. i hadn't received any teaching on it. He just started changing my heart. i started to realize Christmas, even celebrated by the most Christ-like people i knew, was not about Christ. i mean, we all sung the songs and felt 'loved,' but the holiday was not about Christ. i also realized that much of the world, even those who don't know Jesus, want Jesus, accept Jesus, celebrate Christmas and even say, "merry Christmas."
well, God changed me. on top of Him changing my heart, i learned that Jesus wasn't born even in december and that the traditions we have for the holiday have pagan routes.
i just couldn't imagine celebrating Jesus's birthday on a day i know He wasn't born doing things He abhores. to do it in His name would just be wrong and in vain.
