Sophie Kinsella's books has funny but witty stories to tell.. Specially Can you keep a secret, undomestic goddess and twenties girl... I assure you you'll going to laugh reading it.

Interior Desecrations by James Lileks. He provides a running comentary to photographs of interior designs from the 1970's. I was laughing so hard in parts of it that I was crying and could not catch my breath. My wife thought I might be having a seizure.

He has another book called Mommy Knows Worst where he provides commentary on old print advertisements and articles on baby products and raising children (circa 1930's through 1950's). It too is a funny book. But I didn't laugh as hard as I did with the first one.

All of the late Lewis Grizzard's books were funny, such as Elvis is Dean and I Don't Feel So Good Myself.

Also, Stuff White People Like is funny and true.

Garrison Keillor somehow manages to be funny and depressing at the same time.

I'll add my ditto to the Discworld fans.

P.G. Wodehouse and his collection of Jeeves stories (though I must confess, I much prefer Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie's representation of Jeeves and Wooster. And speaking of Laurie...).

Hugh Laurie (yes, Dr. House), The Gun Seller.

I have read some of Katie MacAlister's contemporary work and find it hilarious.

They're chick books though.

The Shack. The book is so ridiculous a person has to have a great sense of humor to get through it. It is pure fantasy and should be taken as such.
