We get mail for old tenants semi-regularly even though we've now been here for four years.

Thanks for the prayers all.

I'm trying to get back in to the routine; I got back home from my mom's yesterday afternoon. The funeral was Monday.

I had to cancel Monday orthodontist appointments so they will both be missing school an afternoon next week. It is the last day of the semester that I pull them out; I don' t know if that is a good day or a bad day to miss.

You know

I remember when my kids used to like me.

Those days were apparently long ago...

It must be a hormonal day for everyone at our house.

Sometimes I don't think it really matters. I would say that if they aren't missing any tests then things should be fine. I KNOW Ty would rather miss the last day of a term, than the first day of the next just in case he had class changes to deal with.

I'm off for a morning at school - hoping to nail down my volunteer scheduling ASAP!

Blessings,

Garsy

MBee, the kids will like you again tomorrow. And if they don't, remind them that you feed them. That usually works for me.

Garsy, I know, I was wondering about tests. I may email N's teacher. At the high school they have block schedules so K is just missing PE and homeroom. And in PE they are doing presentations so she can just do hers a different day.

(((((HUGS))))) Dee. In many ways, the next several weeks are going to be the hardest for you. You are in our prayers.

Glad to see you back Dee and praying for you still. MY parents are getting up there in age and I've been having thought about them leaving this world. I guess you don't think about that stuff till you hit your middle 40's.

Garsy, I think about you everytime I watch that show The Middle. Have you seen it yet? I love the little boy who's kind of out there.

MBee, why so sad?

Thanks all for the continued prayers.

Yeah, Danas_mom, there are all kinds of emotions going on in the head for me. It will be especially hard for my mom and my brother, and my heart aches for them. I also need to let it ache for me, too. If that makes any sense.

Deb, I find myself thinking a lot more than I ever did before about when my mom is gone too and the ramifications of that. It is kind of crazy though because both my mom's parents are in their 90s and still living by themselves.

Dee...do take time for your emotions. When my mil passed away (very quickly) last January, my dh struggled with acceptance and anger (primarily because we had not been told that she had cancer and that it was terminal-though we're not sure that even my mil knew).

We don't have any grandparents left and my mom is our only parent left. It's strange...

Kath: Snow?!?!? Possible coldest October on record?!?!?! My poor dh is living a completely different life from us-it was 79 degrees here today and is still in the 60's now.

Julia, that would be hard (about your mil). My mom's anger is focused on the woman who hit my dad. She could have slowed down more. I don't know if it has been determined how fast she was going. Oh, my mom heard her tell 911 she was going 55 ( don't know if that is true), which was too fast with a truck stopped on the road with its flashers on. Other than that though there is really nothing she could have done to avoid the accident. So I hope she can eventually move past that anger.

Julia, I do feel bad for your husband, I'm sure he is wondering what he got himself into. I do hope that it is not the coldest winter on record there (or here for that matter). Kath, how much snow did you get? It was snowing here today, but none stuck.

My 2 middle kids have the rest of their hunter safety course tomorrow; it will be cold and maybe rainy. They do the outdoor part tomorrow. The highs are the 40s which we aren't used to yet, so that makes it feel colder.

We had to pick the rest of our garden today too. Sad to do it so early.

On your poor husband! Yeah, I could not believe it when I got up in the middle of the night and saw snow. I knew the forecast but didn't really think it would snow. It really was very pretty, and it's almost all melted here. I'm not that far away from your husband (maybe 100 miles or less) so I'm sure it's melted there, too. But it's still cold! As I type it is only 39*. We are suppose to have 60* weather soon. I'm glad because we still need to cover up the windows with that plastic stuff, and I need to find it. I have a bunch left over from last year.

About 10 years ago we had a really bad snow storm in Oct and killed a bunch of trees and such with all the ice. I'm glad it wasn't that bad this time! Dee, our area got a bit less than 4 inches, but I saw on the news some got over 5!

We have the heat on and I put the flannel sheets on the bed the other night. Made things very cozy, but if you remember those flannel boards in sunday school? That is sort of what it's like when I want to roll over or move at all, I'm stuck between the flannel. I started getting claustrophobic, but am doing better today.

Happy Birthday, Dee! I imagine it's going to be hard to celebrate what with your dad's passing an all. I do hope you have a good day though.

Yeah Kath, it sounded like they got a little more west of you. But you still got a lot, especially for October.

I want to put the electric blanket and mattress pad on the bed; hopefully we'lll feel motivated to get that done this evening.

Thanks Roberta and Kath! Yeah, it is a bit weird having a birthday right now. I keep forgetting that it is my birthday actually. I opened a card yesterday and it was a birthday card, not a sympathy card like I was expecting. I'd forgotten I already got a sympathy card from that person. We're having steak tonight which we almost never have, so that will be nice. Not that it is good grilling weather.

Ha! I thought I was the only one who won't use flannel sheets for that very reason. The t-shirt material sheets either. I can't stand feeling "stuck" in my own bed.

It's pretty chilly here too, highs in the low 50s for the last couple of days. The only decent jacket I have is older than my kids so it doesn't fit me very well anymore. So I usually go jacketless, especially since most of the time all I'm doing is running from the house to the car, from the car into another building, etc.

I dealt with that kind of anger after my FIL died. I was in the hospital having my third child and he was in the hospital dying, and I had no idea because nobody wanted to "worry" me. It's been five years and I can still feel my emotions spinning whenever I think about it.

I can understand you feeling that way. Plus, it seems like they were trying to control your emotions by not telling you what was going on. :(

We think Brian's glasses may have been on the back of the car when I left for the grocery store this morning. NOT a good thing when there's no insurance to get them replaced. And to boot, he's making it out to be my fault!! Walking around sighing everytime he comes near me and saying "I'm sure that's where they were." I'm sorry but I don't typically look on every surface of the vehicle before I get in and go.

Grrr.

Blessings,

Garsy

Oh that would annoy me greatly Garsy. I'd probably pop right back with "Well if that's where you took them off and left them, yeah I'm sure that was where they were."

He's just as mad at himself.

Wonder if we have his former scrip setting around here. We could get him a pair for less than $50 if we could find that.

Blessings,

Garsy

If the script is recent, the dr can just fax it to where you can get the glasses.

It's not a recent scrip.

Going on with my day after another bout of insomnia.

We found Brian's lenses!!!!! yes just his lenses. I took the dog for a walk, trying to wake myself up, and right there along the street, about a block and a half away, were his lenses. No frames, and very badly scratched up, but hopefully WalMart will still use his scrip and we can get new ones quickly without another costly eye doctor appointment.

Blessings,

Garsy

I hope it works out without being too expensive, Garsy.

R was dragging this morning. Yesterday she was coughing and had a sore throat so I was going to keep her home today. But she felt better this morning and was not coughing except for a little right after she got up. So she went to school. She was a little late because she was having a hard time finding something to wear. Grrrrr.

Tonight is N's vocal program. I'm glad I already had the black pants, black shoes and white shirt he needs for it before my dad's accident. He is not crazy about vocal, next week he will be assigned something else.

well the lenses are beyond repair, and the scrip is a year and a half out of date. So tomorrow he has an appointment at 11 AM. Cheap actually - $45 dollars or so.

Ah well - Live and learn.

I know I've said time and time again that my kids hardly ever had more than an hours worth of homework. Tonight was one of those exceptions to the rule and we seem to be having a lot of those exceptions lately - especially with Ethan. Tonight he had nearly 2.5 hours worth and a LOT of math. And that's not counting his 30 minutes of required reading that I require.

BUT I managed to get all my scrapbooking paper organized today! Now I've got that done I have a few more things to get cleaned out and organized and I'll be ready to scrapbook this weekend!

Blessings,

Garsy
