How is everyone?

MBee, did you clean the house or do paperwork?

At conferences I told R's teacher I'd come help every week, so I went today during center time.

The four day weekend was nice.

Julia, how is hubby doing?

Kath, did you get more snow last week? I'm trying to remember what I heard on the weather channel.

Paperwork is done.

House isn't.

:)

Now, I'm starting to get sick They all had a head cold and now I do and when I cough it is dry and non-productive and rolls on, and on, and on, like thunder in the distance. You know how you can still hear it, drifting away when the next clap comes? Same thing.

Scouts tonight. Our troop is planning a service project and a Veterans Day program. Both of which need decided this week. So, we have 6 active girls....

6 - choir practice (DeeDee)
5 - revival at her church
4 - family vacation
3 - flu
2 - death in family??
1 - doing all the work...

#2 said she may be there but I just told #6, 5, and 4 that they were at the mercy of the rest and had to go with what they decide. It could be VERY productive. No discussions, no arguements, just decisions.

That works! We do that in Zoe's troop with 18 or so girls. Those that aren't there don't get to make the decisions especially if decisions need to be made immediately.

The only thing I DON'T like about that is that Zoe doesn't usually get home til about 4 PM while most of the other girls get home by 3:45 or so and often times their leader sends out things to be decided upon via e-mail or phone call and asks us moms to ask the girls when they get home from school and call her. Most of the time by the time Zoe has had time to think about it for even a couple minutes the decision is already made. Oh well.

it's been crazy around here lately. Trying to get the kids to keep their grades up especially Ty and Aryn!

Plus play practice has gotten seriously intense - going til 5:15 or 5:30 every night.

We had a new family move into the neighborhood recently so we are getting to know them. They also have 4 kids but their eldest is between Ethan and Zoe. Ethan's a 5th grade, their E is a 4th grader, Zoe's 3rd and Em is 2nd grade.

Gotta run things to do in town - getting parts for the van!!! That will soon be done!!!! Yippie!!

Blessings,

Garsy

Wait till "hell" week. The last week before the play/musical around here. The kids had it last week and they were gone every night till almost 10pm. They even missed their half day, but they didn't have to stay late that day. We went to see it Friday night and it was good. Very proud of all, btu especially proud of ds because we thought for sure he'd go for a few weeks and call it quites.

No H1N1 reported at school, but plenty of colds going around. The shots are suppose be availabel at school in the coming weeks and I go back and forth about whether to get them or not. My kids don't have any underlieing conditions, but .... .

Hope all are well. I didn't post prayer requests yet, but will get to it. Feel free to start the week if you'd like.

That week is next week.

Ty said that 5 kids missed play practice yesterday out because they were sick supposedly.

Had my mammogram done today - Took my MIL in for her first one in 10 years or so. Get them done ladies!! Please!

Brian called and said that he just plunked down $450 for all the parts and stuff for the van and he and Joe are going back to Joe's house to put it back together!!!!!

I'm off for an afternoon at school, then girl scouts and picking Ty up from play practice.

Blessings,

Garsy

Reverse -

Got to school and my cell phone started ringing just as I walked into the office. It was the school nurse. Ethan came down with a fever and the serious sniffles. So I didn't stay very long at all. Long enough to deliver Zoe's girl scout uniform and inform her leader (who was subbing in art today) that I'd be back to pick her up later.

But I was there long enough to hear a rumor that I'm not sure if it's true or not. If it's true I will have a MAJOR hissy fit!!! Folks are saying that the school fired our Art teacher. My best friend in that building! I tried to call her cell but I think I have a old number of hers'. This will break many a hearts if it's true and if we don't get someone good in our Art program is as good as dead. The kids will be the losers in this. But of course it's not about the kids. GRRRRR!

Blessings,

Garsy

Garsy - that would be awful...

I came in to post that we have been FLU'D! The school nurse called me and BigBee is 101.3° and is not allowed into the school until 24 hours after the fever breaks - and that she would check.

I refused to sign a note for J to go on an excursion yesterday. Someone in the office is getting mixed up about which country they're living in. The dates on the note were for the 11/9 - 11/11. I figure it doesn't hurt J to learn that sometimes you have to chase up the correct information to get what you want.

It's term 4 and J's violin teacher has finally decided he needs to have a practice sheet signed to say when he's been working at home.

X got a silver card yesterday (hates getting up on stage to get those) to say she's gone three terms without any behavioural cards.

Oh dear Kylie, I hope they get it straightened out. Yay for X, I'm sorry she doesn't enjoy going up to get the card.

Garsy, that sounds lousy, about the teacher. I hope it isn't so. I hope Ethan is feeling better soon.

MBee, I hope BigBee is feeling better soon too. If he's like my high schoolers he hates staying home and getting behind. But if he is like N when he had it he'll feel too bad to care for at least a day or 2.

Oh yuck! Ethan's fever is the same as Bigbee's. I can't find the stinking thermometer around here and it's driving me crazy.

They check fevers here too.

Praying that he's feeling better soon too!

Blessings,

Garsy

Here too. I sent dd back to school a few days after she got sick and because I had said she had a low grade fever they called her down to the office the day she came back and took her temp. Apparently she was suppose to stop in the nurses office the day she returned. I thought it was kind of odd that they waited till mid afternoon. Oh well I know they're just doing their job. I think the letter we got a few weeks ago told us to send them to the office and I forgot.

Ethan has confirmed H1N1.

he is confined to his bedroom. Running a fever anywhere between 99.2 and 102.8. I've lysoled every surface possible. I've had a headache all day, but no fever or anything so I think it's all related to that lovely time of the month.

I'm going to bed early tonight.

We have two conference tomorrow morning, for Zoe and Ethan. Then on Friday morning we have conferences with 4 of Ty's teachers and for Aryn.

Blessings,

Garsy

My dr suspects I have h1n1. lovely. She did the test but I guess it takes quite a while to get the results, and is like 50-75% wrong.

I've been sick since monday. I'm going back to bed now.

There was an article in my paper that said in our area, if you have the flu it is H1N1 because type-A isn't in the area. So, what about all those folks they told had type-A? Does that mean the dr was wrong when he diagonised them, or is the article wrong.

Oh, I get the article - H1N1 is typeA with a twist, so it can show as typeA.

Only one of us is out so far, and he is BORED and achy from not moving. I stayed home long enough to make sure he got up and did something with himself so that he doesn't get sicker.

((((hugs))))) & prayers for a quick recovery. I think I might have had it a few years ago. I know I had a fever, chills and went through well over a box of tissues a day.

Kath, I was thinking about you the other day and was wondering how you were doing. Hope you feel better soon. Did you get alot of snow? I heard it was comign that way.

I asked ds if there were alot of kids out sick and he said most of the kids have colds and only a few are out and they've been out for awhile.

Our weather is so ... yucky these days. It's not cold, but it has been so rainy I can hardly stand it. I went out and bought some straw to cover the muddy patchers in our yard because I got tired of the dog tracking in mud.

We have the kids family birthday party this weekend and I hope dh's aunt doesn't make any snide comments about it or I might just blow a gasket. That would be fun.

Careful there!! Gaskets are expensive to replace!

Ethan is doing MUCH better. He's still kinda achey and has a headache, but there he has been fever free since 7 PM last night. Thanks for the prayers!

Feel better Kath - plenty of rest and lots of fluids. Ethan just couldn't get enough to drink.

We had conferences this morning Ty. We met with 4 of his teachers. He has a LOT he could be doing that he is NOT doing that would really improve his grades BIG TIME! We also meet with one of Aryn's teachers for a conference too. She did well this past quarter, but she too has some issues that need working out.

Our elementary art teacher has been put on administrative leave, until December. And from what I'm hearing from teacher friends - the reasons behind this and the how they choose to do it were completely uncalled for and flat out wrong. I had one teacher pull me aside into a side room and tell me that she was asked by the art teacher to make sure I knew what was going on and to ask me to basically head up a parent and student letter writing campaign, so we can save our teacher from basically being let go in December. This is potentially devastating for out school because this art teacher is the best. And anyone she has worked with for any length of time will tell you that. She is the absolute best and is superbly good at what she does. She knows the kids better sometimes then the classroom teachers do and manages to get some of the most amazing work out of the children she works with. Any one they try to find to replace her will fail miserably because we have become accustomed to Mrs. C. and her God given talent and love for what she does. She's so obviously not in this to please administration or for the paycheck - She's in this line of work because she LOVES teaching and she loves the kids. So I'm going to be making LOTS of phone calls over the next 2 weeks and getting as many parents as possible riled up and ready to do something about this. The one teacher told me that there will be a public hearing about the whole issue in early December - but our district is notorious for planning public meetings and not bothering to tell the public. THAT will NOT happen this time as I plan on making daily phone calls starting after Thanksgiving to the district office just to be sure I don't miss it. I'm known as a squeaky wheel in our district, especially when something has the potential to affect my kids in a very negative way.

Anyway - I'll keep ya posted.

Blessings,

Garsy

Hope all in this forum and their families feel better quickly!!!

We've got slight colds (my dh managed to send one through the telephone from Nebraska), but other than that so far, so good.

That's why I haven't been on here a lot lately...I've been spending a lot of time chasing to and from to work/school while my car has spent a lot of time in the shop the last couple of weeks. I hope that all has now been repaired.

DeeDee told me the coolest thing about her art teacher. She has been proclaimed 'most favorite special teacher ever.

Why? Because there is a kid with Aspergers in their class and the last teacher lost patience with him. DeeDee was talking about getting help with something and said the teacher said that she was getting ready to do it for K so she would teach DeeDee. Then, DeeDee started listing all the little things she has done to help this student and was talking about how she was so nice to him and that she really liked that. DeeDee always thought K was special since he was one of the few people she knew when she started school. "one of her OLDEST friends"

We can't lose those special teachers - we need them for our kids. This one is teaching my kid to be compassionate and helpful without being demeaning.

Hee hee. I'm praying for a good evening. And yes, I did have my mamogram a few months ago. You go girl !! Fight for your teacher. I hate to see good people leave and especially if it's not done right.

Dd was suppose to go to a party tonight, but the girl got sick and has a 102 * fever. I hope she doesn't have H1N1.
