Soccer ball; shields/swords I cut out of a cardboard box; cars; firefighter hats.
Now that I think about it they haven't been playing with toys as much lately; guess right now their favorite 'toy' is sticks they find outside. These sticks seem to possess the ability to become a number of different things depending on the current game.

Ah, yes, sticks and cardboard boxes are priceless treasures (ever read Kristina Katerina and the cardoard box?).

Before my son was born, I had bought him a teddy bear that was a musical. You would pull it's baby (the baby was a duck, go figure) and it would play a song.

However
quote:

Mr. Bear
has had several surgeries, but he will not leave home without him/her.

I say that because he calls him Mr. Bear, yet says he loves her, lol!

Since his 3 1/2 years Mr bear had to have his musical box removed, the baby finally had it's embibical chord cut (so Mr. Bear now has a belly button), restuffed, and several laundry baths!!!!

What about home made play dough (it cleans up easier and I have a good recipe) or clay?

Any type of doctor kits or doctoring items. We have probably a dozen stethoscopes. Also stuffed animals and baby dolls to be the patients. Also nintendo ds if you consider that a toy.

Wow Jewel can you post the recipe?

I did not see the plural on toy(s).

My son is another stick fan <groan> to play pirates or whatever
Cars/trucks
Building blocks
Lincoln logs
He absolutely loves to do crafts
Books
G.I. Joes and Batman Figurines
Doodle pro
Alphabet town

Yesterday I caught him (I sent him to his room for a time out) trying to shave his Horsey <groan>

we make salt dough a few times a year, usually around this time of year cause they can make it into ornaments. They dry out nicely, then we paint and decorate them.
Regular play doh, I have made before, but it always gets thrown away very quickly. It does clean up better then the store bought stuff, but it's still a mess.
We usually save play doh activities for when we visit my mom...keeps it fresh and fun for them, and when we go there we are usually there for a few weeks at least, so it gives them something to look forward to there.

ok...to add to my list:
*dr stuff (someone else said that one and reminded me...lol)- bandaids and gauze rolls are cheap and fun for a long time!!!
*lincoln logs (our set has a train track and train too)
*bubbles
*k-nex
*marbles (last week my son and I laid on the floor playing marbles for about 2 hours...we love that one!!!!)
*microscope (you would be amazed how fun looking at your germs breeding on a piece of glass can be to kids...lol)
*puzzles. Some we buy to do once, some we do over and over again.
*games of just about any kind
*fake money and cash register

Where did you find this arrangement? My son would love this. We have Thomas the steam engine and friends train set with several tracks, but the lincoln logs with train would be ideal.
Thanx

Trucks.
And the cat.

Seriously, his first word when he wakes up in the morning, "truck" wanting me to take him up to the living room to play trucks.

Erin, it may be trucks for a very long time! My nephew has been a truck fan since he was younger than Isaac and now at 5.5 he spends a lot of time building trucks out of legos, household items etc. If he finds it he tries to make a truck out of it.

Josh's favorites:
blocks - wooden and duplos
Little people noah's ark and school bus (the kids ride the ark, the animals the bus)
cars and trains
tool bench (especially the hammer)
anything he can pick up outside - rocks, leaves and sticks are lots of fun

Well, that is a relief. At first I thought they were going to be deprived of ever playing with play-dough for their entire lives... And that used to be one of my favorite things. I was starting to wish I could invite them to my house for a play-dough day.

1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 TBSP oil
1/2 cup salt
food coloring (optional)

Mix everything EXCEPT the food coloring in pan until smooth. Stir over medium heat until dough forms ball in pan. Ball should not be sticky or gooey. Knead on counter, and add food coloring as desired.

I believe we bought that set in Germany...Globus was the name of the store. I will try to track down a link for you for the American version of it though. It's about 3am here though, so I am going to bed and will search for a link tomorrow for you.

Another alternative to the food coloring is a package of kool-aid mix. adds color AND smells good!

OK...it seems there two that I found:
THIS ONE is called Yukon Express
THIS ONE is Woodland Express (it's the set we have)
If you do Ebay, HERE is an excellent deal on several sets along with a train.
