Netflix was my concession when I got rid of our TV.

It has been a blessing. We get to pick movies and, because we watch it on my laptop we have to huddle, and get to discuss it later. It is always a "treat" for all of us.

You can sign up to like 5 unlimited I believe any time. I had 3 unlimited and that was perfect for us.

Check out their website...it's very self explanitory and easy to follow.

The instant watching is pretty good.

I started with 1 DVD, then we moved up to 2 because of series sets, but most of the time we watch streaming videos. (Ever had three people huddle over a laptop screen?)

They are the older series, and coincidentally I have less worry about the content.

The best thing about Netflix is that if you have to close your account, they will hold you Que for up to two years if you ever decide to come back.

Really? I didn't know that. i recently cancelled my Netflix as money is always an issue these days. I LOVED it. I hope to go back someday soon.

I've been a member of Netflix for three years. I really like it. After rating enough movies the movies the site suggests for you get pretty on target. The site also tells you based on your other rating, how many stars you'll most likely give a movie. It has been right the majority of the time so far.

Looks like I'm the lone dissatisfied Netflixx customer. I joined them when they started advertising in my area years ago. I was using the 3 rentals at any one time selection. I was very happy for the first 2 or 3 years. With my work schedule and living alone, I could watch all 3 movies and get them in the mail the same day. I started watching TV shows about the time I finished my third year when I noticed problems.

They wouldn't check in my rentals for 2 to 3 weeks, and for the years prior they had been checked in within 2 to 3 days before. Then I started getting 'Long Wait' for new dvds constantly. Then with a TV show or miniseries they would mail them out of order. So I would return the last in the series I had to get the first one. That is when I discovered the class action lawsuit against them in California for false advertising.

Frequent renters had discovered that they had their queue 'throttled' or intentionally slowed down using various methods because Netflixx deemed that they had watched too many movies in too short of a time. I joined it. Netflixx lost later that year. What I had been experiencing was 'throttling' by Netflixx because I would return all my rentals so fast I would be on a second batch during the same week.

The terms of the settlement specified that Netflixx would provide more rentals for those of us in the lawsuit free of charge because of the throttling. They didn't comply with the settlement. They dragged the free rentals out so far I almost forgot about it until I read about that in the papers too. That was one year later and no compliance with the terms of the settlement.

I called them up and told them they had no integrity or honor since they had been dragging the settlement out. They disagreed. I told them to cancel my membership and drop my name and address from their mailing list. I told them I couldn't trust them to abide anything they agreed to since they had defied the court ordered settlement. They gave me the run around. I kept chewing them out for being dishonorable everytime they answered the line. It took me over an hour to cancel my account.

They never once apologized for their actions nor did they acknowledge their guilt despite losing the trial.

I love netflix. Their watch instantly feature is really cool.... MUCH cheaper than renting from blair or blockbuster stores to!

It was nationwide.

I loved the variety of the videos available on Netflixx. After I burned out on action flicks I started looking for stories with real plots. I had to go back to older genres from the 30s through 60s. I'm not sure anyone else has such breadth.

So far I'm still happy with Netflix. My second movie on my list was "The Proposal". It was listed as "short wait" but as soon as I sent my first movie back that one was mailed out.

From the time I send a movie back until I get my next one it is about 4 days, but I think that is because of my location....not Netflix.

I'm still only doing the 1 at a time selection. I think we may up it to the 2 at a time because of the wait between movies, this would give the kids and the adults each a movie, and with winter coming we don't do much outdoor stuff.

We just sent back "Death Race". Netflix rated it as a 5 star for us (based on movies we've rated), but I was did not like that movie at all! I gave it 2 stars.

The Netflix ratings get better over time, but I've never found them to be all that good. But I watch movies (and read books for that matter) over a lot of genres and just because I like one doesn't mean I am going to like all of them in any particular class. I believe their ratings are some type of matrix that basically says if most people like Movie A (that you like) and also like Movie B then you will like that one too. Not necessarily true, but the more you rate the better they get. Though I've been a member for years and rated a lot of stuff and I still wonder sometimes why a given movie rates high (or low) for me. It probably also makes it harder to peg people like us who have one shared membership - my husband and I have very different tastes in movies and now we also rent shows for our 2 year old!

I too share an account with my darling, but I think I do most of the rating.

I don't get a movie just because Netflix rates it high for us. We get movies we want to see and that sound good. If I think it sounds like a bad movie, but Netflix rates it high I still won't get it. Maybe a while down the road when we run out of movies to watch I might, but not now.

Sorry, I didn't mean to say that I thought you got the movie just because Netflix said it was a good one for you. I figured you either wanted to see it or took a chance on it - I'll do that sometimes. One useful aspect of their ratings system for me is that they often recommend movie I wanted to see and forgot about or one I don't know much about but can get more info on and decide it sounds good.

I agree about the recommending movies I had forgotten about!!!

I was a HUGE fan of the watch it instantly feature when we first joined. I watched season 1 and 2 of The Tudors and loved it. Couldn't wait to watch season 3, but unfortunately it isn't out yet. I'm starting to realize that they only have fairly old movies under this feature so I'm not really watching any (their either old and dumb or I've already seen them). Oh well....

We decided to drop our TV too.. and do netflix.. we've had no problems at all.

Our turn around can be as little as 3 days total. I was surprised the first time that happened!

I like that I can find things not available at any rental places. I don't care about the just new things (except maybe some TV programs.. )

We've never had a billing problem or anything.

Season three of the Tudors will be out in a few weeks.

Glad to see someone else enjoyed it. I have mixed feelings about recommending it. Very good choices of actors, wonderful production quality, fairly well written (there are a few cases where they have changed pretty significant historical facts in the story, like merging Henry's two sisters into one character). Some scenes in almost every episode that should never have been included; I keep hoping for a PBS or Bravo version where those are edited out.

I loved The Tudors! Kind of just chalked up the historical differences due to "Hollywood". I do agree that they could have definitely left out all the raunchy nasty scenes and the show would have been just as good in my opinion.

Thanks for letting me know when season 3 is coming out. I thought it would be soon.

I just got something new from Netflix at no extra charge. It is a disc for my PS3 that allows me to stream hundreds of movies and TV shows. Most are just standard definition, but they do have quite a bit available in HD.

Not everything is available for streaming, but there is plenty to keep me busy while I wait for more to arrive through the mail.

If intetersted, all you have to do is request the disc online, and you'll get it in just a few days.
