I know, I know, we do not take Nostradamus seriously as Christians. However let me point out that God said in Deuteronomy 13 that He sometimes lets the enemy bring along false prophets who actually do produce sign and wonders and accurate prophecy. This becomes a test, but it does not mean we are free to look past the events themselves. nostradamus is clearly not a Christian prophet and yet he spoke these words

Century 2 Quatrain 62:

Mabus puis tost alors mourra, viendra,
De gens & bestes vne horrible defaite:
Puis tout coup la vengeance on verra,
Cent, main, soif, faim, quand courra la comete.

Mabus very soon then will die, [then] will come,
A horrible undoing of people and animals,
At once one will see vengeance,
One hundred powers, thirst, famine, when the comet will pass.

Nostradamus (1555)

Ray Mabus is a former governor of Mississippi with a pretty amazing resume whom Obama recently (June 18, 2009) appointed as Secretary of the Navy.

Now I repeat that my only reason for considering Nostradamus isunder the allowance of Deut 13 whereby some false prophets get it right. the litmus test is which God they try to encrouage us to worship, the true God or some other.

Cleary I and everyone else in the world was shocked today to hear that Obama had received the Nobel Peace Prize. I know that the prize has seemed to become more like liberal political theatre in recent years but still.

So, the question that remains about false prophecy is not the role it plays in the church, but the role it plays among the lost. There is expected to arise a false prophet who draws everyone's attention to the Antichrist and the Bible says 'and he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.' Many have interpreted this to be temporal, ie space based lasers or just command over the fire power of say the US forces or something, missiles etc. But what if it is a supernatural manifestation, a false elijah miracle perhaps (recal mount caramel and the prophecy saying elijah must come first which the Jews still cling to.)

All of the different threads now seem to be crossing or nearing a point when an announcement of peace in the Middle East, peace in our time will occur. Understanding something of how politicians think would'nt it be wonderful to have a Middle East peace deal in 2011 during Obama's reelection campaign. The headlines could read 'The Mayan's predicted the end of the world in 2012, but we have peace in our time!' to some such thing.

All thoughts out loud but again, not unprecedented given the times and the Bible.

Also, could this be the first seal? Obama is a member of the council on foreign relations and their seal is the rider on the white horse?

As I said, the signs seem to be everywhere that major events in Biblical prophecy will shortly be fulfilled.

Still, the blood of Christ alone is our only claim to righteousness and God's grace is sufficient!

Glory be to the true and living God who sent His Son to die for us that we might live for Him.

I found a website, can't remember how I found it, but it went into great detail about someone it believed would be the Antichrist, someone named Thomas Plantard, lol. It even showed a picture of him when he was a child and he would be, I think, in his forties now.

Also, a friend once said that he thought maybe Nostradamus was talking about Hosni Mubarak. Isn't Egypt the only Arab country with a treaty with Israel? Also, I've read that Egypt and Saudi Arabia might help Israel in some way against Iran. Neither of those countries wants Iran to get nukes.

I read a book with the quatrains and they didn't make any sense to me. I don't know how people think he was this great prophet or seer.

I don't think the peace treaty is imminent because I think Israel is going to attack Iran's nuclear sites. Hal Lindsay believes Iran would close the strait of Hormuz and I guess that would mean my heating bill would increase significantly. Anyway, we'll see.

The History channel has had a lot on Nostradamus lately. If he really predicted all that they say he did and many of his predictions have come true as they say they have, well, maybe some evil spirits helped him.

Maybe life on earth is just too attractive to most Christians so they won't see anything coming until the day Noah enters the ark?
