What does one do when almost every aspect of the job seems to weigh down on not only the body and the mind but also the faith in the Lord Jesus. How many times do you pray before going to work that things will work out and that the boss will be satisfied with your performance? Sometimes our best effort goes unnoticed.

What if you pray that God will show you the opportunity and help you use such opprtunity to show love and forgiveness at the workplace, to touch the hearts of others in a way only Jesus Christ would allow? Others may see the good works and glorify your father which is in heaven. If you are not appreciated for your work by men but someone believes in God through your daily living wouldn't it be worth it?

We often complain of being underpaid on the job. With God no one gets underpaid. -Miriam-

If the job is wearing you down--especially in the realm of faith, then it is probably a sign it is time to look for another job.

I don't think I have ever prayed that. I do not go to work and do my job looking for praise from my boss. I will do the job to the best of my ability regardless of whether it is noticed or not. The only "boss" I have that I have to please is the one in heaven. Even if my efforts on earth are never noticed by my earthly employer, the only One that matters knows what I'm doing, how I'm doing it, and where my heart lies.

This is essentially the only thing that I pray in regards to work--I pray that I will be a positive reflection of Christ. I also pray that God help me to do the job to the best of my abilities, to keep me from making mistakes when I am tired.

I have never complained of being underpaid. I get paid what I have agreed upon in my contract. I entered into that agreement of my own free will and if I at some point I decide that the agreement is not working for me, then I have the right to find another job and/or negotiate a change. However complaining is not the answer. It breeds discontent and bitterness that will affect my job performance...at which point I would not be worth what I am being paid at any rate.

I don't believe that just because a job is mentally wearing on you that it's time to hit the job market. Often times the mental weariness is our own perception and based more on what we think rather than the job itself. God may have you at this job for another reason. Maybe instead of dreading going to work and not feeling appreciated you might go in with a different attitude thinking positive instead of negative. If you go in as a new and improved you others will take notice. Go in doing 110% and don't expect praise. Remember, The Lord IS your boss and it's more important to be noticed by him. Imagine how going in with an upbeat attitude will affect your co-workers. You may get noticed more for being pleasant even the other others aren't.

From personal experience, don't consider leaving your job unless you really have prayed about it and feel that God is leading you on. He may very well have you there for His purposes not yours.

hmm...I must say I disagree with the last statement. I once had a job where it wore me down so badly it interfered with my faith. I started to really lose faith that time of the year (before I quit) and found myself not going to church as much or reading the Bible or anything faith-related because I was so run down. I honestly thought that God was trying to "make me" solve this family's problems when in reality, the only person who could do that was God Himself. I quit and haven't looked back. It was definitely a lesson learned.

Two things and only two things I pray specifically about work.

Help me Lord, work better for you today than I did yesterday.

Use me Lord to minister to those around me. Help me listen and be the Jesus they need to see.

If your job is wearing on your faith there is really something you need to consider: Are you making your job an idol?

I work 50 hrs a week go to school full time and have a wife and am Involved with church. On the weeks my work schedule is bad, i could easily say "because i didn't spend time with Jesus today my job is wearing on my faith" or I can say "oops, I need to rearrange my priorities because I do what is important to me"

I would ask you are you really working as hard as you can the best as you can everyday?

Praying for you!

Keep your back strait head up and ears open to the things of God!

Find a new job!

If your job is THAT bad, then get out of it and find a new and BETTER one!
