Hi all:
I was wondering what you (leading your kids) do to sanctify Sunday? I mean, most likely you and your family go to church, perhaps morning and evening service. Beyond that, what do you do? I currently do not have a tv, so, that is not a problem, but, we watch videos on the computer (not bad stuff), but, perhaps I should turn off the computer on Sunday.
I am a father of a 5 year old girl. I want my daughter to understand that Sunday is special, not like other days...

We often have people over socially, and, even if not, we tend to make time for relationships, read together, go for walks, visit attractions etc. We do this by doing less than the average amount of chores... no using the day for catching up, just doing the things that prevent Monday from having a mess overflow. I also usually make only soup for supper, as a lightening of my load.
But I don't really want to over-emphasise the 'sanctity' of Sunday, because I consider that to be a bit of misapplication. All of our days are holy and dedicated to the Lord -- if we are somehow on better behaviour on Sundays, that's just a way of saying that we know some of our activities are not pure enough for God, but we only give the real good life one-seventh of our time. (But that's only when it's about purity -- which is what sanctifying means) if it's about time for focus, that's not a problem... but that's not literally sanctifying Sunday.

This is pretty much how we spend our Sundays as well, although I may throw in some laundry or take care of some paperwork in between services if everyone else is napping and I'm not tired.

Very similar to our house growing up.
I am not quite so good about it. I try not to go to any stores on SUnday and other than maybe some laundry or dishes don't do housework. It's a relaxing day. Most of the shopping I do is because I need some sort of quickie meal for the kids because youth group schedules and stuff make it hard to eat a real dinner.

I try to stay out of any places of business on Sundays too. There are a variety of church things on Sundays that keep dd busy.

We go to church and then relax watching football! That's if there are no scheduled games for the kids. We also have youthgroup on Sunday nights. To me Sunday is the seventh day of the week not the first so whatever has leaked over from the other six gets done on Sunday. THe big difference is going to church and Sunday school then spending family time doing what everyone enjoys. With a teen and a tween there are activities that are beyond our control sometimes and they get fit in. My life is sanctified by the cleansing blood of my saviour so by application my days are sanctified equally.

I agree. Between breakfast, Sunday school, church, JAM practice, she is gone from 9 am to 2 pm. Then she's back there 6-9 pm helping out with youth group and then attending the high school youth group.
