Amazing how the media (even Fox) find these little groups of freaks and makes a big deal out of their pathetic attention grabbing stunts. 14 people, who cares? Westboro Baptist is what, 7 people?

I disagree. I think they should be called out. I think Christians should stop letting people look like idiots and spew hatred in the name of Christianity and just turning away, pretending we don't know them. THOSE kinds of people are doing all of us an injustice and THEY should answer for it--to us!

I think we have about six versions at our Bible study night.
One will say, "Wait a minute, that's not what mine says.........."
We look all versions up, compare them with the Greek, and
hmmmmmmmm, they're all saying the same thing but the wording
throws us for a loop.
And a big kicker, hmmmm, that is what KJ said after all.

The thing is, as a fellow Christian, that's absolutely fine. But for someone who is not, they're going to look at this and think, "Why should I follow a god who tells his people to burn books?" Hopefully most people will recognize this is a minute minority, but sadly there are so many people out there just begging for an excuse to think negatively of us, they'll jump at this oppertunity.
Also, we have to remember that these are our brothers and sisters. We can't ignore them and hope they go away anymore than we can ignore our own physical flesh and blood.

I've got no problem going into the women in leadership thread, Obama threads, or the Halloween threads. Heck, I'll even lurk around in the evolution threads, but even I am afraid to venture into KJVO territory.

This group, to unbelievers, sends a message that Christianity, and Jesus and God by association, is a hate-filled religion/lifestyle. It simply affirms what many of them already believe. When this is the public face of Christianity that the world sees, you can't really expect that they will come running to us with open arms, LOL.

This is happening not too far from where I live. . . I am scared for what is going to happen with all the buzz around here about it. People are talking about doing worse than setting books on fire. Ridiculous.
