I can't seem to find many reviews on these DVD's or books. Does anyone know anything about them? I am inquiring for my 18 month old son. We don't watch tv in the house with him that much, but I would love an option for him that is clean and non-controversial etc. If you have other suggestions on books or Dvd's for toddlers that would be great.!!!!

here is a site about Thomas the Tank Engine Here is another - and another. Boz the bear hopefully those will help. BTW - It's THOMAS the TANK Engine. There's lots of good stuff out there. You just have to be willing to do the research and make up your own mind about some things. Common Sense Media that I linked to in the third link above seems to be a pretty good site for that sort of thing. Blessings, Garsy

Another one my son loved was Jay Jay the Jet Plane. If you got the DVD's they were definitely Christian. THe version on TV is not so overt but still has a good moral base.

My 2 year old watches Thomas, Bob the Builder, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Handy Manny (Disney). Not all of them everyday! He also really likes Mighty Machines - a live action show about how trucks and other vehicles work. You might also want to look into Auto Be Good or VeggieTales. Hermie is cute but we don't have any of the videos at our house. I'll have to check into Boz the Bear, never heard of him but I think Josh might like that one too. Kris

My kids got Boz DVDs from some friends of ours at church. I personally found them unbearable [very sugary sweet], but my kids enjoyed them. They were very colorful and had songs about how to treat others mixed in with learning colors, eating right, etc. My kids absolutely LOVED the Wiggles when they were toddlers. The bright colors and music totally worked for them. Of course, that was back when the show was all done from Wiggle house; I have no idea what the format is now. But the show, at that time anyway, did a good job of showing how to eat right, how to learn directions, how to practice good basic hygiene, etc. The songs were definitely do-able for an adult. We have their Christmas specials [which I highly recommend] and still watch those every year. Veggie Tales are also good for toddlers. They have fun songs, bright colors, and positive stories on how to treat others. You might also look for shows like Rolie Polie Olie and Jo Jo's Circus on DVD. They were colorful, fun shows from earlier Playhouse Disney days that had good lessons in how to treat others. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Little Einsteins [not Baby Einsteins] are still on Playhouse Disney and are really quite well done, too. I especially recommend Little Einsteins because they incorporate classical music and art with their shows and teach the kids basic music terms through their cartoon.

My guys LOVED Thomas the Tank Engine! When I was pregnant, I'd pop a tape in and snuggle up with the kids, then promptly fall asleep! One sound byte and I'd know exactly where it was in the tape. Although not "Christian", it is a good clean video series. Thomas is a cheeky little engine that tends to get himself in trouble, so you can talk about lessons to be learned. Also, there are Thomas books. While my guys never really liked the books I find that some reluctant readers that read to my dog at the library really enjoy them.

My son loves Thomas the Tank Engine. As someone already wrote a pastor from England created the stories for his son, who now does the productions. I also do the Auto B Good, Davey and Goliath, and I also found about 4-5 episodes of Spongebob Squarepants that are bibical based, but you have to seek them out of the hundreds that were made. Best Day Ever is one of them, the newst one I don't remember the name, but once I find it will post it. It is based on the prodigal son, except in the SBSP theme it has to do with best friends. (they aquire new wealth and SBSP finds new friends in which he squanders that wealth. Once his finances runs out all his new found friends disappear and the only one still waiting for him is his best friend Patrick). CMT
