hello all...there are a couple of things i'm asking 1 - PRAYER! 2 - Ideas & Input... I've been praying about ways to minister to the women at my church. Without going in to much detail, our women's ministry leader stepped down several months ago (it was her time to step down, nothing bad, etc., just her time to move on) and since then, it's been a struggle for the women to stay connected, etc. So, I've been praying about a way for me to personally minister. I've been praying A LOT and have a few ideas, but thought I'd gather some ideas from you all! From practical ways to a way to keep regular contact among the women despite crazy schedules and working moms. I've also approached the Elder board and they will be having a planning meeting in a week and will discuss the opportunity for me to head up a WM. I'm barely 28, so I don't expect to formally preach/teach/lead, but I have oodles of time (I quit my second job) and will be able to devote tons of time to plan things/invest in women/etc. From what I gather, there should be no problem in their approving this, but it does need to be covered in prayer and they need to be 100% in agreement. Sooo...that's why I ask for prayer and ideas!! Any input is greatly appreciated!!

Please consider doing something interesting instead of the usual. Every women's group at every church I've ever gone to was focused on cooking, sewing, baby stuff, cooking, blah blah blah. The men's groups go camping and fishing and hiking. Why don't the women do that stuff?

Here in Texas, the state parks do special programs that teach outdoor skills to women. There's also a program called Texas Outdoor Family at the parks where the park supplies all the camping gear and teaches you how to do everything, and a ranger I spoke with said "church family" qualifies! Also, I'd say to make sure not all of your studies or programs are oriented toward married women and mothers. Singles and non-moms sometimes get left out of women's ministries.

I'd say try and balance between the old standbys (cooking, crafts etc) and hiking, camping. I'm a wife and mom and frankly I'd be interested in both ends of the spectrum. I have run across very few women's Bible studies (the material itself) that were overly mom(or wife)centric but a lot of activities seemed to be mom or family driven. Of course now that I am a mom I can't find a bible study that provides child care! Kris
