Calling the Great Physician Tracie Miles "On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'" Mark 2:17 (NIV Online Bible) Devotion: Recently I came down with an infection. After ten days of misery, I finally went to see a doctor and was diagnosed with bronchitis. Feeling much better after a few days of antibiotics, I wished I had sought out a physician's help sooner, preventing all those days of unnecessary suffering! As I considered my stubbornness in deciding to call on a doctor, I thought about how our walk with Christ is often just like that. For example, we have problems in our lives, but we think we are qualified to handle them ourselves. We have burdens, but we assume we can carry the weight on our own. We have questions, but don't really trust God to supply the answers. We need help, but stubbornly refuse to ask. Some people call God the "The Great Physician." Although we think of this in terms of physical healing, Jesus walked the earth to provide something more: spiritual healing. Read the rest of Calling the Great Physician Have you ever had an experience where you felt incredible calm in the face of calamity?

I've told this story before, but as a new Christian I displayed several symptoms of advanced cancer. I figured God would heal me or take me home, and the people setting me up for surgery were amazed how calm I was. I was in a win-win situation. Turns out, it was a harmless syndrome. I thank God!

I am not sure this will fit what you mean, but I would answer that my time is now. On August 5th, 7 days before our 3rd anniversary, my wife left me and took our 1 1/2 year old son. She didn't tell me where she was for 3-4 days and finally let me see him a couple weeks later. Then on the 17th I went to her mother's and her mother attacked me. I called the police, but I was sent to jail. I have since been in jail for a couple of days and am up on charges and facing 22 years in prison despite a police chief, a police officer, and a probation officer, saying that the charges should never have even been filed. Through all of this I am calm. I really a not worried. I know GOD is working and going before me, in fact I have already seen some things starting to happen. :)

ORIGINAL: Fritzpw_Admin Have you ever had an experience where you felt incredible calm in the face of calamity? You can only experience calm if you keep focused on Christ. Once we start to take our focus off Him, we lose our peace. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed upon Thee. Isaiah 26:3 Yes Fritz - I have experienced extreme calm (peace) when remaining focused upon the Lord whilst bang in the midst of a storm. I have also experienced extreme anxiousness whenever I have focused on my storm rather than my Saviour.
