I personally did not get the pen moved, but I went to work and came home and it was moved. Musta been the Round Pen Moving fairies.

His, jump in the car NOW and drive to Melissa's. You can stay there overnight and ride over here with her tomorrow. I'm sure we could get you a ticket.

Lisa, I'm sorry about the test results. That hoovers. Any idea when they're doing the surgery?

It's a beautiful 60 degrees here, so I'm gonna go outside and enjoy it before it all disappears.

I don't know yet. I hope to know Monday.

My MIL has a lump in her breast. Through further testing, they have found irregularities in both breasts. We are hoping that it is noncancerous irregularities. If it is noncancerous, they will have to be removed. otherwise, it will be just a lumpectimy (that doesn't sound like a real medical word. It sounds like a little kid making up a medical word.)

Another lady in our church who is very special, just got a kidney transplant! We are waiting for it to kick in. I guess that after all the trauma of a transplant, it takes a bit to get it working. She had waited a very long time for this, and I think that she had pretty much given up hope of getting a new kidney.

Anyway, I have been near tears a lot. Not from being upset or down, but just plain emotional.

Cindy, I would like to talk to you about something (medical), but I lost your phone number.

We had a great time at the Superchick and Barlow Girl concert! I thought it was a little loud... either I am getting old, or I just need to learn the words to more of the songs! It was fun rockin' out with so many different ages!

His and I talked fitness some on the way back from Cindy's house. I started doing some "Couch to 5k" research, looking for stuff with just walking options, since I cannot run. I know that I can modify the plans to do only walking, so I might do that. Or I might start cycling. Not sure what I am gonna do, but I need to do something. She is very motivating!!

Yes, it was a very fun weekend!!! And, yes, I am old. It was too loud! Let me just say, when you cram 9 women in one hotel room, not a whole lot of sleeping was happening! Who knew you could be pizza delivered at midnight on a Sunday...

Nine women in one room? That is a lot of people. Does that include Esther?

ETA: Was it a suite?

Nine including Hannah. Esther stayed with my mom overnight and Brian, Noah, and Levi today.

It was a blast! The last concert I went to, I think I was 17. Big difference, and YES, it was louder than I remember, but still...awesome! I knew most of the songs, so that helped.

I haven't laughed that hard in months. Maybe years. We would be almost asleep and someone would start giggling and it would just spread through all of us. It was great. LOL

The van had some hiccups on the way out, but was fine on the way home. Hannah and I stopped at the outlet center on the way home and got some really great deals on kids' clothes.

Perfect weather for driving both ways. Just perfect. I am so thankful for the great time away.

Umm, those of us who are normally awake at midnight on a Sunday?

We had a blast! I think this needs to be a regular thing. Who says we have to give up pj parties when we become moms?

CIndy--everyone knows taht NORMAL people are awake from 6am-10pm. Anything other than that is just wrong!!!

I went to the dentist this morning. Just as I was leaving town Sunday I broke a tooth. Who knew apples were that hard to eat! I got a filling and am scheduled for a crown next month. I mean, I'd LOVE a crown for Christmas. Just not one for my mouth! This is the tooth that started hurting at FOT. When I told the dentist that it started hurting then, and I saw some fo the same friends when ti broke he suggested I stop seeing all y'alls!

Where is everyone?

We had another beautiful day here . . . got almost all of the remaining firewood out of the driveway and under cover. Last year we had a pile that didn't make it under cover before the snow hit, and I reminded my children of how much fun we did NOT have chipping firewood out of the ice last February. Funny, but the pile got real small real quick. There is still a small pile left that we just don't have anywhere to put, but we'll use it over the next few days.

Tomorrow we are celebrating Erin's birthday. Her actual birthday is Saturday, but I'm working the weekend. She already got one of her gifts - an electronic drawing tablet she's been wanting forever. The big brown truck pulled up in the drive this afternoon, and since she had picked it out and knew she was getting it we just gave it to her. Melissa and her kids are coming over tomorrow, and we are going to make Chinese food and hang out.

I have just one question . . . how is it that my third child is turning 18???!!!!

Glad to see people posting again!

I have good news to share. My dd called last night so happy and bubbly. She went to the ROTC awards last night, hoping to earn something from the many accolades they were giving out, but she was ineligible for many of them. Then they started giving out scholarships, and nope they didn't call her name. Then they got to the most prestigious scholarships. They called her wingman's name, so she took solace in that (your wingman is like a partner that you spur each other on to succeed).

Finally they got to the very last award and SHE WON! I think they awarded them by alphabetical order, so since our last name it towards the end of the alphabet and she won the highest award, she was last on the list. What a wonderful surprise for her!

Also, things are going really well with dh and I, for those in the know. We are praying together a lot, and he has started a study group with Life Skills that appears to be very beneficial. He is happy in his new job and comes home for lunch a couple times a week. We are growing closer in love to God and each other. It's pretty cool.

Of course there will still be trying times ahead, no doubt. But it's fun to have good news to share, so I'm sharing.

I'm glad you shared, shadow, and I'm rejoicing with you!

My dh has an appointment with an adult ADD specialist next week. I've wanted him to get evaluated for years. It seems to have finally sunk into his thick head that maybe this really is affecting his life as much as I've said it is. Gee, listening to your wife, what a concept! Anyway, I'm waiting for him to have this appointment and for any meds they would prescribe to take effect, and then I'm going to have some decisions to make. I am trying to give him every chance, but something's got to change one way or the other.

He also saw an orthopedic surgeon (the same one who fixed my leg when I was in college!) about the knee pain he's been having - he is having an MRI next week to confirm, but doc thinks he tore his meniscus so he is most likely looking at surgery. So I guess I said all that to say he needs prayer all around if you wouldn't mind.

We are also having water issues - the well pump is being flaky and I think we're gonna need to replace it. Does the well pump not know that I have 2 birthdays and the holidays coming up? Well, maybe it does . . .

Can I say I'm thankful the weather is finally cooling off?! It should not be hitting 90 in November.
And I'm passing my blood drawing class just need twenty more draws to get signed off.

This week I'm really wondering how it is that my sons love mathematics and how soon I'll have to find them a tutor for it.

Cindy--do you have water at all?

Ds1 and I rode up to Grandma's yesterday. You couldn't ask for better weather! It was in the 60's, full sun, and best of all tail wind!!! We were able to average 18.3mph, which is smokin' for me. During my races this season I was doing good to do 17mph. Dh and the rest of the boys met us up there for Grandma's 94th birthday party. The good news is that although my ankle still does hurt, it is getting MUCH better! No running yet, but I was very happy to ride the 85miles mostly pain free!

I went to church this morning. There's a small church just a couple miles away that I ride by all the time, so I figured I'd check it out. Maybe 50-75 people? The pastor greeted me before the service. Uh, yah, pretty obvious that I was new. So that was pretty neat. The service was okay. Worship, message, more worship which is what I'm used to. The message did seem kinda "lite", but it's hard to judge with just one message. I did slip out right after the service. I hadn't told dh where I was going, and figured with him leaving for France today he'd want to spend some time together. Nope. When I got home he was watching a movie. When he's watching a movie, there's no tearing him away from it. It doesn't matter if it's the first or hundreth time he's seen it. He has to watch it until the ending credits. We ended up spending maybe 5mins together. Oh well.

His - Glad that you got out to check out a new church on your own. Good step! Yes, it is sometimes hard to tell by one service. Although, we visited a church at Christmas time and the service was kinda lame. Even though we did knew it was probably not "normal", we could just tell that it was not the church for us. It might be worth another look. I am sorry that your hubby did not make spending time with you a priority! I am sure that he wonders why things are not going great... maybe he should look in the mirror!

Not much new here. Actually, I guess the opposite is true! I made a comment today to Cindy about how busy I am, and she said, "Well, you wanted to have a life!" True, true. For SO long, I have not had one! Now, I do. Granted a lot of it is running to doctors and specialists to figure out what is going on with my health, but we are also very involved with friends (YAY!!), a little more with family, very involved with our homeschool group, our daughter is working part-time at a barn, we now have chickens, our daughter has a horse, and soon we will have the infamous Molly (Cindy's goat) and one of her sheep! My hubby (and Cindy's son Brandon) and I built a chicken coop, cleaned out the barn (because our lame landlord kept putting us off), and we have been cutting up some of the fallen trees on the property (for firewood). Every weekend we work on projects (lots of times with the help of Cindy's two youngest sons) and it has been a blast!

So, I have been a busy girl! I am not the lonely girl who I was not that long ago. I am definitely not on the computer as much as I used to be (why I don't post as much) but it is a very good thing. My hubby and I have been working hard on our marriage. That is the biggest change. Having a hubby who I know cares about me has meant that I can feel safe and grow in so many ways. God is very good.

(Gee, I did not mean to be so sappy! Just wanted to give an update on how things are going for me!)

Aww, melissa, that is sweet! I am happy for you.

I am happy for Cindy that her dh is finally going to the dr to check out the ADD issue and I hope it works out to be a big improvement.

His, bummer that your dh chose a movie over you. Men can be so clueless sometimes.

Ellie-mae, praying for you still, and your MIL.

Betterisoneday, I'll trade you! I would love love love to be in the sunshine every day. Someday I am moving back to the sunshine state. Autumn cold and rain= lots of mold= lots of asthma trouble.

Tonight we pulled out old photo albums. It was so fun. Man did we have a lot of fun through the years, and my children were sooo stinking cute! God is restoring our family and I am very grateful to be starting to live it instead of just pray for it.

Anyone else have one of these kids?

If everything is perfect in their little world, they can be the most helpful, loving, gentle, snuggly, happy children.

Said child got to go see a movie today, got a bunch of computer time to play (pretty unusual), got to stay up a bit past bedtime to watch a movie with mom and dad.

And yet, a simple "Time to go up to bed, bud. See you in the morning!" was enough to throw him into a full-fledged temper tantrum.

Seriously??

Said child then received a spanking and a stern talking to, but I am not convinced he went to bed having learned anything at all. He was informed that he WILL be up at 8 am, and be dressed, fed, and seated at his desk at 8:30.

Tomorrow shall be an interesting day. Camp fun times has ended, children. Mommy Boot Camp starts at day break. Well, a little later than that...

Donna, I don't have that particular issue as our kids look forward to bedtime rituals, but I so recognize this statement: "but I am not convinced he went to bed having learned anything at all." That is probably the single most tiring thing about parenthood... at least for us. It is easy to keep plugging along, even with the hard and unpleasant stuff, if you know that you are getting somewhere. When you don't know if you are making progress, it can zap the life right out of you and overshadow all the good stuff. The good news is that even when we can't see any progress, there is still progress when we keep on doing what we know we should. The whole. "he didn't learn anything at all" is a lie. Even if it is just another example of cause and affect that he can file away, and even if he needs more examples of it; it is adding to reference file that he will eventually pull from when he gets wise enough to usee it.

Whew! Thanks! I needed that pep talk!

Or... did I just misread your post and you were actually saying that you were looking for more kids like yours because you are enjoying this type of kid so much that you are volunteering to take on other similar kids?

Donna--did you not notice how grey my hair has gotten?! It only gets harder when they get older.

Ellie-Mae--no, I'm not convinced that ANYTHING is getting through that thick skull. Follow the rules=life is good. Break the rules=life gets real hard. And he continues to wonder why life is so hard.

For anyone considering charter school... Ds2 is struggling already. Add to that, this week he has his THIRD new teacher. Yes, you read that right. Ds2 has five classes. THREE of them have switched teachers. THis is week 12. We'll stick out this semester. After that, NOT A CLUE. Home schooling didn't work. Charter school isn't working. At 15yo, can he get his GED and work full time???

When will he be 16?

I'm not sure what I would do at that point, if I were there. Pray, for sure. I would probably look into vocational school or an apprenticeship with someone you know. But for some kids, a GED and working is not the worst thing that could happen, IMO. I do think a GED should be required though, not just letting them quit school.
