but I refuse to watch Beck, O'Reily and the sort. I can handle O'Reilly on occasion, but there is no way I can handle Beck. he just yells and is just over the top. He wasn't like that on his radio show, he was normal, sounded like a nice guy. But this screaming thing about does me in. Larry watches him and I can't be in the same part of the house when he's on.

That is crazy Deb. O'Reilly I used to watch when we got that channel. Sounds like I wouldn't like Beck. MBee, are there other resources available for SS material? Our class uses a lot of DVD series. Not necessarily my first choice, but it makes an easier to lead class. We used to have a guy that was great for going through a book of the Bible with, but he moved. Too bad you don't have a teacher/facilitator. Dee

I simply avoid Fox. It's easier and much more peaceful in my home when I do! ANYWAY! Everyone is healthy in my home again! Ty was able to make up his Marine Biology test yesterday, and a German quiz this morning and Aryn is taking a make-up test for Algebra today. Zoe, for missing 2 days of school managed to get caught up in everything, since Ethan brought home her work for her and her teacher was willing to even e-mail me some stuff early. Blessings, Garsy

And DeeDee reports they are learning about the fertile crescent and their book talked about Moses and Ninavah and she thought that was neat... ETA... Concert was nice, except the choir went first and lots of their parents left. I get mad about that - they get a 'full-house' for an audience and the band only had about 2/3's. I have TWO teenagers at the house. Tired of hormones screaming at me. It started raining - I hate the dark dreary days. Later

Kids get out of school early again today. They got out early last week for football game playoffs, then the playoffs were cancelled (big brouhaha over a kid somewhere playing for a school that's outside of the district he lives in) and rescheduled for today. So they get out early again. I'm waiting for hubby to call me to let me know if he got a paper paycheck today (he'd better have!!!!!). Nothing direct deposited last night and we've only got eighty-five cents in the bank. I can't get groceries on eighty-five cents, people, come on. I wish I was back in bed.

I gave dd a ride to school today because she had to finish packing for ICYC (Indiana Christian Youth Conference.) She packed about 8 shirts/blouses, 3 pairs of PJ's, 4 pairs of jeans, two pairs of shoes, two hoodies, make-up and bathroom goodies. She's only going to be gone until Sunday. She always has a blast at ICYC and comes back with a renewed commitment to Christ.

I should have said "Because moving up front may call attention to himself that he didn't want?" as a question. I realized the sentence could be read different ways. 3 pair of PJ's? I go to things with sweats so I can fall asleep where I am sitting if I want.

Yes, you are right MBee. Well, now the teacher will be calling attention to him because she will be moving him up front. The teacher also told me she had to ask for his notecards (homework) and that he didn't get full credit for them because they were late. Maybe turning them in on his own would have called attention to himself too, or maybe he just forgot. LOL Roberta! Only 2 pairs of shoes? I'll bet she'd take more shoes if it was flip flip weather, or does she wear flip flops all year? I know some girls do. Is she taking a winter coat? Anyway, I'm glad she is going to something like that! Dee

My dd did something the other day that just made me giggle. I posted awhile ago about Rachel's Challenge and how she joined this group to promote kindness at school. Well, she'a gone to a few meetings and did some fun activities, but this one they had planned during her lunch was not a hit with her. The objective was to encourage everyone to sit at different tables during their lunch to get to know other students. Not a big deal, but to her her lunch very precious and down time with her buds and there was no way she was going to participate in this activity. I chuckled and was proud of her for standing her ground. I told her just because you join a cause doesn't mean you have to agree with everything they do.

Hi, Tracy. Glad to you're still around. It sounds like things have been hectic. I hope you get some down time soon. Mbee, our adult SS class does videos. We've done studies of Bible Study books, books of the Bible, and now videos. Our class changes their setup every year, but we enjoy them all. Do you still meet as a group and discuss the study? I couldn't quite tell from how you phrased it. Glad the plays went well, folks. Dana's mom, I pray your hubby's check comes in, and your day gets better. Our kids don't get out early for playoffs. Is travel the reason your kids get out early? Our travel time is usually under 2 hours, except for the big state game, which happens on Saturday in a big college stadium. Garsy, glad everyone is better. Dee, I hope you get things worked out for N. S had to wear a "reading glasses" prescription for about 2 years. Now she doesn't need them?! That's what the doctor said, anyway. S and K were at home the first two days this week with bronchial and sinus stuff, with no fever. The doctor gave them the lovely z-pack and a strong cough med, so they are back. I emailed S's teachers (10th grade): one gave me a weeks worth of work, the others gave me either one day or three. It was interesting to see who gave what. K's teachers (3rd grade) had nothing for her to make up. She had worked a little ahead, but they were mostly reviewing for tests coming up today.

How are the playoffs going Danas_mom? Here kids can go to school out of district if they get it approved; it doesn't cause issues here. I hope hubby got his check. Praying. Dee

Around here you cannot change schools without moving (or maybe being expelled) and you cannot move to change schools for sports. If they prove you were motivated by the sports program - you have to sit out the first season you are in the district. This prevents programs from stacking the team and recruiting. If not, you could have a player 'move' into the coaches house.

My glasses broke and I was almost sitting right on top of the board, I just could not see, and my classmates made fun of me. This was in 1968 and I still remember. I wonder why we hang onto stuff like that?

Dee The only reasons she hasn't been wearing flip flops lately is because she hates it when I "nag her to death" and her only pair broke about a month ago.

I wouldn't like that either, Roberta. It just makes me feel so cold to see their bare feet! We don't keep our house very warm in winter, but my youngest still goes around without socks. She'd wear crocs to school without socks a lot of days if I'd let her; I'm not sure about flip flops. Anyway, it sounds like a great weekend for her!!!
