Benn lurking here for a while and haven't as yet spotted a thread for those of us who are getting married next year. Thought it would be nice to share ideas and thoughts about it all, including when we are getting married etc.

ok i will start: Wedding date: 1st May 2010 Wedding venue: St Michaels church Breaston, Derbyshire Reception venue: Risley Hall, Risley, Derbyshire Bridesmaids: 4 flower girls plus 1 maid of honour (4 of our neices and my sister) Pageboys: 1 pageboy (our nephew) Colour scheme: red, gold, cream and ivory (i wanted blue but couldn't get blue wedding dress) Dress: Alfred Angelo design 1516 Flower girl and maid of honour dresses: alfred angelo Wedding theme: hearts, bicycles and music. At the moment i am looking for shoes and a seamstress. It's a bit of a nightmare for me because i cant find any that are not too high and not pointed. We can't decide what invites to go for as they all seem a little expensive

Sheep, congratulations! You are in England? yes? My parents are on vacation there as we speak. By page, do you mean a little boy carrying the train (that's what I call pages), or do you mean what we here would call a ring bearer?

baabaasheep Is it a done deal on the wedding dress? it's just that there *are* places in your area (at least ONE) that do blue wedding dresses.

Hi Manda, yes the dress is currently hanging in the spare bedroom as i got it for a bargain. Had a look at quite few different wedding dress shops but and this was the only dress that looked nice on me.

ORIGINAL: Harvie Your colors sound delightful ... have you thought about flowers for your bouquet? Ivory and red roses would certainly be lovely! Are you planning on a special cake topper for your wedding cake? I found mine online (back in 2003) that was crystal .... a cross and two intertwined hearts; it was beautiful. Have you been thinking about a special cake? There are some fabulous ones online! Do you have a photo or link for your wedding dress so we can sneak a peak? What time of day is your wedding? What will you be serving? Have you shopped online for wedding invitations? That's what we did ... and also for "save the date" magnets. Best wishes on your upcoming nuptials!!! Thanks for all the well wishes peps Yes am from England, i live in one of the districts of Nottingham Flowers: will be having Calia lillies with feathers Cake topper: there are two ladies from Nottingham that make any kind of cake topper you want, we will be having us both on a tandem, with a electric guitar and mark wearing his cycling club colours (white, red and green). Cake: Marks auntie makes wedding cakes so she will be making ours, am considering having a cake made as 2 electric guitars, or a cake that looks like st peters in rome where we got engaged. Dress: if you go to google and type in alfred angelo uk, the dress is design 1516 which is in the design in colour range. It is in claret and white. The wedding starts at 12noon and the service will take approx 2 hours including photos. Reception food is a sit down meal of 3 courses, not decided what food will have yet but we have a list they have given us. Then a buffet for the rest of our wedding guests in the evening. We are having about 110 people for sit down and 180 people for buffet. We are making our own invites as it's very expensive for all the designs we like and i can get all the supplies at cost from my work place. Think that's all questions answered. Nope, there was still my question about the page.

Sheep, I think you misunderstood my question. I was asking about your page boy. Here in the U.S. page boys and ring bearers are two different things so I was wondering if your page boy was carrying the train or bearing the ring. So, since I like weddings in general, and care about yours in particular, I was just curious to know what the page boy in your wedding was doing.

My hubby, and I were going to renew our vows for our 10th anniversary (2010). We were planning a ceremony, reception, etc. The whole package. However, we have had a family tragedy recentlly. Hubby, and I will probablly postpone untill 2011, and do it on our 11th anniversary. We have talked to the church, and our top 3 reception choices, and let them all know. At least it's more time to plan?

Sorry Ok our pageboy with be carrying our rings on a cushion, and maybe helping with seating arrangements for our guests or handing out hymm books (he will be nearly 10 but is very mature for his age)

Really sorry to hear about your family tragedy. Am not sure what it's like in America but to get the venue and date we wanted we had to book it in 2008 (nearly 2 years in advance by the time we get married) which is totally mental. Am going to sit down with h2b this week and discuss final numbers for invites etc. It's quite hard to get him to decide on who can come and who can't because he doesn't want to leave anyone out. Me on the otherhand is quite ruthless and can cut people off the list if needs be.

Thank you on both counts. As to when to book, it depends on the location, and the time of day, and the day of the week, and the time of the year. The month in which we originally got married was a low(er) demand month so it was/is easier to book.

Sorry i haven't been in for a bit what with work and social things going off i have only just had about enough time to check my emails. oneofhisjewels yes am in the east midlands, never heard of the legend of the seeker. Wedding plans are going ok making an appointment with one of our customers tomorrow to sort out suit hire (and hopefully get a bargin in the process). Am off to look for wedding shoes on Saturday while Mark goes youth hosteling with his friends. Sunday it's lunch with Chris the vicar who is marrying us and Fiona his wife to discuss the wedding etc. A week on Saturday we are off to draw some hearts in the sand at a beach near my Aunt and Uncle's house for the wedding invites. Things are slowly starting to come together, am managing to get fit ready for the wedding which means an hour in the gym. It's kind of funny really becasue every morning i wake up and the first 3 things i think about are the gym, trying on my dress and then Mark (my h2b) lol

Sorry to hear about your cake, but glad that you were able to work something else out. Hubby, and I did decide to postpone until 2011. It wasn't an easy decision, and neither of us are thrilled about it, but we feel that it's for the best. Oh well. More time to save up for it, and plan for it right?

Here in the U.S. (Mostly the south), there is a tradition of having a second "Groom's" cake. It's typically geared towards the groom's taste and interest, and contrasts the "Bride/wedding cake". For example, if the wedding cake is a white traditional cake, the groom's cake might be a chocolate cake with like a football jersey on it or something (that the groom likes). Maybe you can go for a three tier cake, and then get a smaller 2nd cake (not as fancy) - with the flavoring of your choice. At our wedding we had a traditional three tiered cake (white cake w/ raspberry filling), and then we also had baby cheesecake bites that we had ordered from a cheesecake shop. We still hear about the cheesecake! lol. As for me....the wedding was 3 1/2 months ago, and I finally got the dress box to store it in. However, the dress has been hanging in our bedroom since we've been married and I'm having a real hard time getting myself to put it in the box. I love to lay in bed w/ DH and look at it and remember the day. Perhaps I'll wait until the wedding photos come in.
