Didn't Palosi say something about putting people in jail if they don't buy insurance? I'm not claiming that she did, I am asking if she did. If so, that would be like forcing everyone to buy broccoli because it is healthy for you. "If you don't buy broccoli, and so much of it, we will either tax you... or we'll just throw your unhealthy butt in the slammer."

The incessant whining about loss of freedoms under B0 is just as lame as the incessant whining (and my own complaints) about loss of freedom under Dubya. In the end, all that matters is what our guy does, and when he does it we're all happy about it. He's our "Dr. Utopia".

Gosh, why don't you verify stuff before just throwing it out there like that?

Didn't you beat your wife? I'm not claiming that you did, I am asking if you did. If so, you're an awful person who should be locked up.

No telling how many other traps are in the monstrosity of the bill that no one had time to read before passing it.

quote:

Criminal penalties

Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:

• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]

When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties. The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.

I am also of the opinion that more of us should take control of our healthcare needs and not depend on others to do for us, even employers....

The homeless people I meet at the hospital keep telling me I'd be better off homeless too. Nobody who had even the remotest possibility of getting health care through their employer would ever say this; the care that my wife gets for free (her wages are not diminished in any way for taking it) is exponentially better than the care I paid $300/mo for as a 24 year old male with no history of health problems and a healthy body weight. That's because an entity worth $250million is in a much better bargaining position with a $1 billion insurance company than someone who makes $50,000/yr is.

Oh it is always so refreshing to see the left's elitist attitudes. I have a hint for you, people from Oklahoma and even Alabama and Mississippi too are Americans and their voices count every bit as much as any of those individuals from the left wing coasts. The left revels in the perceived superiority they gain from discrediting those who aren't from their precious cities. Personally i find the generally respectful and considerate population of middle America to be far superior to the elitist, snobby, disrespectful people i have had to deal with in the northeast, California, and some areas of the midwest.

thank you _jjp_

You are a gentleman, scholar, and great American.

The source of the problem is the elitist could care
less what others think or say. Just like Obama
didn't know the thousands and thousands of
Americans were protesting outside his door.

We have a great Senator in Washington.
Has lot's of common sense.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck please forgive me for not calling it a chocolate covered jelly bean. Ross felt the need to insult the intelligence of another poster due to their geopraphical location. Nowhere did i call into question anyone's intelligence I simply correctly pointed out that there are many on the left who like to play at being superior to the middle Americans.

Apparently OK should change its state motto to: "Oklahoma: Stupid by Association."

I simply pointed out that when a poster talked about a "make my day law" (presumably referring to a penchant Oklahoma residents have to settle their differences with vigilante action) their geographic location may have been a factor in deeming acceptable what seems rather fantastic anywhere else (their "problem"). It's ironic that in attempting to justify your friend, you went the extra mile and assumed that anytime someone drew attention to OK as a person's state of residence they must be making a mockery of the resident's intelligence.

So you begin crawfishing on your insult by insulting people, smart move it makes the rest of your post so much easier to take seriously

So in your mind a law that allows people to act in self defense no matter whether they are in their home or on the street is equivalent to vigilante justice?

Actually other than a few strongholds of lunacy it is not deemed fantastic to defend oneself.

actually not a friend, in fact i don't see eye to eye with their style of posting but i am not one to stand by while you attempt to trot out your better than you attitudes.

Here's a hint for you, if you don't want people to think you are attacking the intelligence of the others for their geographical location then don't make snide remarks about that location as a method for attempting to discredit said person's comments in a debate you are having via the internet. Oh and it is not appealing when a person can not own up to their tactics.

That's a pretty big brush we're painting with. I doubt very seriously that all from Oklahoma are vigilantes.

I don't know any vigilantes in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, etc.

I don't know of any. Oklahoma calls their self-defense law
"Make My Day." It's on the books. So we no longer have to
drag a rapist, murderer back into the house if they get shot.

"They will call good, bad and bad, good"

That's where we are today.
Evil is good, and Good is evil.
Just look at the responses to Fort Hood.
