I'm business development director for a medical staffing company that works exclusively with the military, and we have quite a few personnel down at Hood. Hope they're okay.

Just talked to my nephew....all our peeps at Ft. Hood are ok. I just hope my husband does not have any friends there. What a tragic thing!

various Twitter postings (big grain of salt here) say Hasan was born in Jordan and went to school in Syria. One "eyewitness" said he was shouting in "Arabic".
Others said he had been posted in DC working with PTSD soldiers returning for combat areas. He had served overseas, but station unknown.
He was unmarried and no children. May have had treatment for "alcohol problems".

A little more info:
It looks like he has never been deployed, started off as an intern at Walter Reed, went to college in Maryland and Virginia, has no children, and has no preferred religious preference.

Someone from Ft. Hood that new the assissin said he was mad at Obama for not keeping his word and stopping the war against Islam.
He was being shipped out next month and was very vocal about not going, and that he had been (or was still) under investigation for these outbust against the war and Obama.
Still early.

word has it the shooter targeted ppl he had prior issues with regarding the deployment...he knew who his victims were to be...at least in the beginning.
