This thread did not say that I had to be logical in my choice of foods, simply to state them. it's a texture thing for me...I prefer the shells

Cold soups are great if they're made to be cold (gazpacho for instance).

I must not be a picky eater. Most of the stuff on this list makes me say Yum! I'll even enjoy liver if it's cooked right. Except: Grits Everything on Molly's gross-out list (except Haggis, which is yummy and can be made without the stomach; and chicken hearts aren't bad either) Lima beans Canned green peas (mushy--bleah!) Onions in frozen veggie mixes (raw, or cooked from raw, are fine) Bugs (not that I have ever seen them served but I've heard they're eaten in Louisiana) M4Maggie, grits are like oatmeal, but made with corn and served with tons of butter. It's a Southern thing, I think. I learned that the hard way when I accidentally helped myself to a bowl of them at a breakfast buffet in the US, thinking it was oatmeal. Ewwwww. When I'm pregnant I can't handle smelling the fish counter at the grocery store but I hardly think that counts. ETA: forgot two, although they're liquid: beer, and coffee (esp black), although I love coffee-flavoured food.

I love grits, but only if they're coked right. Watery grits from a buffet are really not good, and not real grits. Grits with sugar in them are not real southern grits either. I don't like liver. I don't like cornbread with sugar in it. I don't know if I like chitterlings or not, but I'm not going to try them to find out!

That's pretty much how I am. Although I do have a consistency weirdness. I don't like mushy beans, pudding, stuff like that. And I can't eat Jell-O and chicken and stars. Ate too much of it when I was pregnant and unforunately tastes the same going down as it does coming up.

Actually, everything on my yuck list is about texture, not taste. I probably would like grits done properly (and if I was warned to expect salty/buttery rather than sweet breakfast cereal!) Also, I now enjoy every food I hated as a kid. What on earth are chicken and stars? With all the sushi haters I'm reminded of Gollum's take on meat (and presumably also fish): "Give it to us raw and wriggling!" I've done raw meat and raw fish and loved both; I'll skip the wriggles though.

Chicken and stars is soup. The pasta is shaped like stars. I used to feel the same way about hot dogs.
