I don't want to ask God, why. I just want to know, like the Psalmists, how long this will go on....

A week or so ago, I posted that I was going to court mediation with my husband. Afterward, we ended up having a really good talk, and even ironed out some things about our relationship. But now, it seems, proceedings have taken an evil turn. Through court paperwork he's lashing out at me and he's telling outright lies.

I know this is normal behavior for such proceedings, but I'm in the thick of it, and it hurts right down my spine. My chest is aching. I feel like I want to run a million miles an hour, but he was my home, and though I know it's not true, it feels as though I have nowhere to go. I feels this way this even more painfully because as a part of that paperwork, obviously to spite me, he waxes on and on about his great love for his adulteress, who he calls his fiance. He writes that he has started a new family, and told my daughter that sometimes people have two mothers. This is a huge slap in the face. When we adopted our daughter, her birthmother also wanted to be called Mom. He became angry and said no one deserves that title but me. Now this adulteress has two daughters of her own, and his child on the way. I went through infertility for a decade - she knew this and used to make fun of me, on more than one occasion. He would never believe that this angel of light could do such a thing to another woman who'd gone through such a struggle. I am sure that the man he was back then could never imagine that he would do even worse to me.

And now my daughter -- who I love as though she came out of my own body, and who the adulteress disparaged as worthless to the point of encouraging her father to leave our family so she could have a biological child for him -- should consider her mother?

And so I ask the Lord how long they will be able to carry on with this horrible behavior. I know it's His timing: I just want to know.

This man compares himself to David when he committed adultery, but when Nathan helped him to understand his sin, David repented. This man, who taught me about the Bible, and was our spiritual leader, will not. He maintains the same nice guy exterior, but what he puts out there is sheer craziness, debauchery, and sinfulness on a level I haven't seen in any men who have fallen down in adultery. He's gone into the slaughterhouse with the oxes, come out on the other side as hamburger in a packing crate, and just keeps going along in a truck, decaying, delivering pain and stomachaches to unsuspecting consumers. He is like a virus that has turned into a bacteria, and won't stop spreading, won't stop hacking up all over people.

How long?

Please pray for me and my daughter. I don't want either one of us to be his victim anymore. I went to this awesome women's conference on Saturday night where I learned that no man can define me as worthless, only God defines me. It gave me the strength to go stand on his porch and pick up my daughter for the first time ever, and look inside what he now calls a home with the adulteress and her children. I had given that what they have created such power over me. When I looked in, I saw that it was nothing but ordinary sin. Cluttered. Undone. Unsettled.

Maybe I should stop asking God how long. Maybe it's already happening and I just can't see it. But from that paperwork, I am hurting, and I asking for your prayer to help me to work through the anger and pain and despair it produces.

Lord ease the pain that Hannah is feeling over these thoughtless words. Fill her gentle heart with your love and peace. Help her through this horrible time and let come through it refined. I pray you work on this man's heart. Let him see he is only throwing dirt on Hannah's name to justify his actions. I pray he does not step on the dignity of motherhood by adopting the world's view. Thank you Father.

Father God,

In the midst of such hurt it is so difficult to go on. I pray that You will draw Hannah so close to Your Heart
that she will focus only on Jesus, see only Him, and feel Perfect Peace that only You can provide.
Help her to release bitterness and anger. Keep her from despair, refresh her spirit, and help her to serve
You with her whole heart every single day. Let her actions glorify You and be an example to her daughter.
Keep this child under Your protection, and remove any pain or anxiety she has. Help her find her way in an
adult world that is chaotic and confusing. Be this child's father in the absence of a father.

I also pray for this man and the woman he is living with asking that You draw them by the Holy Spirit to
repentance. I know that divorce and adultery is repugnant to You, Lord, and I pray that You will remove
the scales from their eyes and bring them into a right relationship with You. Bind the evil one and prevent
this man and woman from doing anything else to hurt Hannah and this precious child. Give Hannah the
strength, courage, and wisdom she needs to get through all of this and to stay strong in Your Word.

May Your Divine Will be accomplished in all of their lives.

I pray all of these things in Jesus' name,
Amen.

Father I pray you deflect these hurtful things from Hannah. I pray they never reach her ears. Please bring peace to this painful situation. I pray Hannah will be able to immerse herself in the things of the Lord. Keep this young child safe from worldly influences Father.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I am beyond touched by your support; knowing you are lifting prayers for my daughter gives me strength.

The Lord really has given me peace. My daughter is cuddling beside me, and no matter what title another person tries to give some other woman, our relationship is one of love and tenderness and connection. She is my blessing in the midst of this battle.

Tomorrow, her dad and I have agreed to meet...one last chance to talk through our disagreements on custody before we see a judge. Please pray for us. I am going with an open heart, wanting to do what is best for my daughter. And I almost forgot to mention that I did tell him how I felt about some of the things he put in his paperwork, and he seemed to understand. I plan to bring up some other issues that were on it tomorrow - please pray that the Lord will guide my words....

Thank you, brothers and sisters, for all of your care. You have no idea how much it means, and how much your prayers really do work in my life.

Lord please sit right next to Hannah as she has this meeting. This is so hard, Lord. She needs words that only come from you and a peace that only you can give.

Thank you for your prayers. The meeting went as well as could be expected: we came to a tentative agreement. Then something strange occurred...

I felt lead to pray with him, and I said as much. He agreed. He started, praying for us to be good "co-parents" and other divorce language. I felt lead to pray against Satan's attempts to put our daughter on a bad path in life due to the negative circumstances that surround her. I prayed that he would be bound in Jesus' name from his work in her life, my husband's life, and my life.

After we prayed, and were walking away, I began to shake inside. Though you couldn't tell from the outside, my spirit was stirred, unsettled. I wondered if I had been in the presence of some spirits that have been influencing my husbands actions over these past several years, and now were trying to rock me to the core. I felt under attack.

Right now, in the middle of the night, I feel shaky again.

A devastating event happened earlier in the day: I was informed that I lost my health insurance benefits, due to a clerical error that remains unresolved. I'm starting the appeals process. It seems that just as one area of my life that has been draining my energy is being resolved, another area opens up simultaneously. I literally got the notice the moment I closed the door on a good conversation with my husband about coming to a conclusion and ending the limbo we're in.

I am on the verge of some breakthroughs in ministry. After over a year of service to a street ministry, I recently was placed in a leadership position at my church. I am full of new ideas for bringing people to Christ. I haven't felt this useful in years. This insurance challenge all seems like part of a plan to take me out. Please pray with me that I will rely on the Lord to resist the temptation to give up, please pray that He will overcome this challenge as well, in his own supernatural way.

And please let me know...what is the shaking? I have you felt that way after praying powerfully for someone? Any ideas of what it means?

I have often experienced the shaking you describe, and am aware of others who started shaking while being prayed for. Sometimes it has been when the Lord was touching me, in an encouraging sense, and at other times, it has seemed like a spiritual reaction to something going on in the spiritual realm. On one occasion it was when I had asked the Lord to set me free from something. We can't know in your case, but perhaps the Lord will tell you if you ask Him. :)
