They don't need GPS readings. We're already mapped.
I don't happen to care anyway, though, so I don't guess it matters.

The article about GPS tagging is a joke right? I have news for you, it has already been done (and is available to everyone online along with aerial photos of your home and, in many places, photos of your home from every angle) it's called google maps and bing maps.
From the article:
"No imagination is required to think up a whole laundry list of evil that could be done with a nationwide GPS grid of coordinate's markers painted on every private home across the country. But I was having trouble thinking up one good reason for it, even one legitimate use that would justify what must be a very expensive undertaking," he said."
While no imagination may be required to think up the list of evil, I hope somebody will tell the author of the article that this particular horse left the barn several years ago.

You can look up someone's landline phone number and get the latitude and longitude for it. I just did it two days ago because I didn't recognize a missed call on my phone. We're lojacked and there's nothing to be done about it.
