I have heard that crisis pregnancy centers give out false or misleading information to their clients and that they give the appearance of being medical facilities when they are not. Is this true?

Nope, the one I work with does provide ultrasounds and has a doctor and nurse on staff to do so.

I've know of a couple that I would call deceptive.

The ones that I am aware of are not deceptive at all, that is unless you are bent on the notion that a crisis pregnancy center MUST give information on abortions.

Deceptive? Not that I know of. My mom volunteers for one, and the only reason I can't support it is because they don't believe in birth control at all, even for married women. I understand some have that conviction, but I can't support it in a pregnancy center. But I wouldn't call them deceptive per se.

The one I've volunteered also has a volunteer staff of doctors and nurses, etc. They also have an ongoing supply of baby "stuff" like carriers, clothing, formula, etc. And they provide a counselor for the girls if one is requested. I'm not sure what "deceptive" actually means in this context, but I would say the one here is not. You know what they do and don't do on your first visit.

While I am sure there are a couple of centers that have well meaning, but misinformed people (such as that was exploited on one of those news magazines shows by the major networks a long time ago,) I am sure that is the exception, and not the rule at all.
