Good Monday Morning Everyone

Hope everyone is doing well and are continueing to pray for Maggie and her family.I know she has been in my thoughts/ prayers all week-end.

I went to a different church yesterday to watch my grandson, Ethan, sing for their service. There is about twenty little kids in his pre-school class. So they walked into church to sing the first song. Teacher lined them all up front and the music started. The teacher started directing the little ones. They sang "He's got the whole world in his hands" One little boy started to cry so the teacher took him out...Ethan did'ent sing at all. The little girls were singing tho.
After church we came back to our house. Tommy told Ethan that he was'ent gonna come to church anymore to watch him if he does'ent sing. I asked Ethan why he did'ent sing..he sang it for me before church raally well. He said "Well grandma, I could'ent sing because my tummy felt funny, and told me not to sing" Poor little one had butterflies in his belly..he was scared to sing in front of all them folks. LOL

My hubby had a bad day yesterday. First he went with his sons to sight in the hunting guns. He decided to shoot from the inside of his truck. He rolled down his window, almost all the way, and sighted in one gun. Then he tryed his shotgun. The vibration from the shotgun shattered his driverside window! So he had to go serching for a replacment window..to his luck, he found one. So yesterday afternoon our son came over and they replaced the window. They were also able to fix his faulty heater. Then he came inside to eat some pizza...and his four front teeth (bridge work) fell out. So tonight he has a dentist appt. Poor guy was'ent haveing a good day.

Wow. Hope things settle down. I'm glad the glass in the window didn't hurt anyone. Good Monday all!

Busy day schooling the kids, shipping e-Bay items, and cleaning for the holidays. Got our icicle lights for the front of the house at Walmart yesterday. Hubby refuses to put them up so will offer to pay my brother. He lives next door. (Atheists don't normally have any Christmas spirit..LOL) I, being determined to give the kids a happy holiday season, am trying to make things a little more special this year. The jury is still out on whether the kids want their dad here for any of the holidays.

I hope you are all doing well. I was off the computer yesterday. Has anyone heard from Maggie? I should check last weeks thread.

Have a great day everyone! God bless you all!

Poor hubby, Barb!! I do hope today turns out better for him!

Good morning and thanks for starting us off. That is cute about Ethan! Butterflies indeed!! I know just how he felt, too . . . I hope you were able to convey this to Tommy so he will go see him again.

We had a quiet, but nice weekend. Got some sewing done Saturday, and got a long nap in Sunday after eating the steak dinner Bill fixed for me after church. Made it back to church last night . . it was our first night of choir practice, too. That was nice -- doing some pretty songs this weekend.

Yes, I think Maggie has been on all our minds the last few days. I chatted for a bit wtih her last night. She's very, very exhausted, but other than that seems fine.

I'm getting ready to go to the gym as soon as I get Garrett on the bus. Thankfully, it's not my turn to drive. I'm having some dizziness . . . thinking it's connected to the monthly I seem to be trying to start -- after not having one for well over a year, that seems ludicrous, but it is so, nonetheless. I'm wondering if going swimming is a good idea, but we have to cancel so much I just hate to do that again, so I will try.

My thumb is raw again, and I need some liquid bandage to use on it before getting in the pool. I just bought a bottle the other day, and distinctly remember putting it in my med drawer, but it is not there -- or at least I (in my dizziness) have failed to locate it. Guess I'll go try again

Found it! . . sheesh! I'd taken it out of the box and the small bottle had slipped beneath all the bandaids in the bin where I keep it. Hey . . a question . . .this stuff is like nail polish -- looks & smells like that, and coats your skin like nail polish would -- even peels like off the same. Has anyone ever used nail polish for liquid bandage???

Praying for Maggie here, too.

Sorry about your hubby's day, Barb.

That is cute about Ethan. My kids spent plenty of time on stage not singing! I always thought they were pretty cute up there either way!

Hubby and son were at a scout campout this weekend. Then hubby got home and went into work Sunday. Long day for him.

We got our Operation Christmas Child Boxes finished. Well, I do want to put a letter and picture in them, and I need to print out tags for them. But the stuff is in them. We went shopping yesterday afternoon for that. When I got home at the top of my email inbox was a email that said "save $5.00 when you spend $15.00 Monday only" from the store I just gotten back from. So if I'd have seen that I could have saved some money, but I am glad to have my stuff for them now.

Saturday I took a casserole over to some friends from church whose son recently broke his leg. They are the most devoted parents I know. The young man who broke his leg will never live indepently; I don't think he is ever left home alone. He suffers from seizures, which are for the most part controlled now as far as I know. Anyway, he fell in his room and broke his leg. That required surgery and a hospital stay. Then his acid reflux kicked up when he got home which sent him to the emergency room. A parent sleeps on a mattress in his room every night since M can't get up by himself with his broken leg. They are concerned that his instability that led to this fall could cause this to happen again. Anyway, there's more I could say about them, that is enough though I suppose.

It is snowing here, but the ground isn't cold enough for it to stick.

R was dragging again this morning, I thought of Ginny. R will be going to bed early tonight.

Well, that post took me so long to get up that I missed Momma-mo and Leah's posts!

Momma-mo, I'm glad you still have your Christmas spirit. I'm sorry things are difficult.

Leah, I've heard of using fingernail polish on mosquito bites so they'll quit itching, but never tried it.

Oh I so know how he felt. All them people in front of him...oh my.

Give hubby a nice pat on the back from me and tell him I hope his week goes better.

((((Momma Mo))))) I'll pray for you!

Not me. Didn't even know there was such a thing as liquid bandage until you mentioned it. Dee had a good remark in saying people have used it for insect bites. Might be worth a try.

Mom is bringing Z's gun and T's gun and a gun rack. Z, the 17 year old, has already told his brother that he will be using his gun for hunting as well as his own. Guess that's ok as long as T lives with us but I expect he'll take his gun with him when he moves out.

We financed a trip for Z and now there is no money for food. T is supposed to buy the groceries for the rest of the month. I hate waiting to see what he will purchase as I never know what he will buy. He used to make fun of me buying non essiencial items such as junk food but he sure does like to buy them himself. He went shopping yesterday and bought donuts, cookies, banana chips and soda. Didn't buy any meat for meals though.

I am making a hamburger casserole tonight. Gotta go I'm at the library and someone is waiting for the computer.

Momma-Mo, that's exactly what I use the liquid bandage for. I prefer bandaids when I can, but for swimming this works fine. Just be aware it burns really bad going on. Also, it peels like nail polish, so getting it off can be a problem. I try to just let it wear off, but sometimes the peeling edges can be a nuisance. Last year my skin developed a sensitivity to the adhesive on bandaids, so had to come up with something, and this worked.

Dee, I've tried the nail polish on mosquito bites, but it never worked for me. That was good of you to take the food to your neighbors. It sounds like they have their hands full.

Ginny, it's too bad Z couldn't earn his own money for the trip.

We had a good swim, then had my friend's car serviced before heading home. Now it's nearly time for Garrett, so no time for a nap

Good Tues. Morning Everyone

Goodness..I made spagetti last night and used a new sauce.food club brand. Never again! It tasted alright, but I got heartburn last night that carried into this morning. Also have a sour tummy. Took some more tums this AM even. Guess that sauce did'ent agree with me or something..

Hubby got back from the dentist and informed me he has to have upper dentures. They have to pull the few teeth he has left, and fit him for dentures. This will all take place in Dec. Wonder how much the dental insurance will pay for that one? Bummer cause he's only 58 years old. But he does'ent brush his teeth that much. So he will go through all of Dec. w/o upper teeth.

Leah, I sure wish you lived close by. I'm trying to cut down and sew a king size bedspread to fit my queen sixe bed. I got the sides done..just am haveing a problem as to how and do the bottom. It needs rounded corners yet. They hang down so far that I was tucking them under the bed, as I was doing with the sides before I fixed them.
I'm not to good at ajusting the size.

LOL Barb! I had a woman ask me to do that once with a spread she's bought at a yard sale. I told her I would charge at least $30 (might have said $35, don't remember for sure) cuz I KNEW I didn't want to do that! But if you lived close, I'd sure help you. The problem is usually in finishing the edges . . . those spreads are either made wrong side out then turned, or they have binding. Binding would definitely be the easier of the two to fix, but even that would take some time -- and patience. If it doesn't have a binding, I'd consider putting one on it, tho it may distract greatly from the looks of the spread.

Menopause just makes life so interesting . . . and just when you think it's over it comes back up to bite you in the . . uhhh . . rear . . . now I need to get Garrett to therapy, in spite of feeling like I should stay in and just kick back & take it easy today . . . and it's cold and wet and drizzly and dreary out . . . . ok, Linda, just stop complaining and get going!

LOL Linda....sure hope you feel better by now and all went well with Garrett's outing to therapy. He sure is lucky to have you.

Good luck on that bedspread Barb.

Dee, you are a sweetheart.

I couldn't sleep last night so I stayed up and cleaned in my kitchen. Still can't sleep. I need to get so much done before mom comes and the anxiety is setting in. I did go to the library yesterday afternoon and got a book on the people who wrote our hymnals. I think I will like this book. Each author has their own chapter and they are short chapters along with some of the words of the hymns and the story of why they were written.

Also got a book on some Christian missionaries that were kidnapped in the Phillipines and held captive for over a year. It is about their story.

Plus I have a book by Joyce Meyer called the Battlefield is in the Mind.

Guess I'll do a lot of reading in between cleaning splurges.

Amazing my husband showed up at my daughter's house. K is asleep next to me and I'm trying to get this post off.

K needs prayers. She was up until 3am last night because of mental pain. Her 13 year old told her he only wants to see her every Monday and every other weekend that he wants to live with his dad full time and please can we make it legal? His dad called K and asked the same thing. She is totally bummed out about this and says it hurts like crazy.

Leah, this bedspread is really a comfoter..and yes, I bought it at the second hand store. Altho it still had the tags on it.
So I opened up the side seam,s and cut the filling out first. Then I cut about 4" off each side. I then tucked the two pieces of fabric back, and used the machine to sew it. Both sides turned out really well. Looks just like it did before I started. It's just that bottom side's that needs to be rounded and sewed. I cut away all the "extra" fabric that hung to far down. Now I have to get that rounding ends correct.
Does that make any sense? I don't really explain things well. LOL

Ginny, I'm sorry your daughter has to go thru all that. But really...does a 13 year old know what they really want?

Ginny, praying for K. That would be very hard.

Sounds like you are doing great on the comforter Barb!

Hubby is off work today; trying to get some stuff done while he is here to help. We've been cleaning in the basement; got part of the floor cleaned. I need to move stuff back now. Distracted myself and defrosted one freezer because I was looking through it and had it partly emptied anyway. I think I'll take a shower and do the next one; the upright is much harder to defrost. The chest (that I just did) has a defrost feature that works great.

Good evening all! I hope you are doing well. I really feel for K. That must really hurt. Right now my kids are not to interested in their dad. I know he hurts, but, maybe he'll return to the Lord faster if he's lonely.

This afternoon my son pointed out that the mold spots on the ceiling have grown considerably. A couple of weeks ago my hubby went to a lawyer consultation and the guy told him he wasn't obligated to get us a new home. I don't know if that's what he was worried about or if his sense of loyalty to his kids will kick in. We need prayer. I'm trying to get the house cleaned so that inspectors can come, but, I fear they will say that we need to leave immediately. It's happened to folks and we have nowhere to go. We don't have money either.

I really need to build up my e-Bay store. Can't seem to get motivated to do anything these days.

I hope the mold situation can be worked out Momma-mo.

Got a lot done today. Problem is that now I have boxes all over and I need to get the stuff organized; I don't just want to shove stuff back where it was in a disorganized manner. I'm helping with kids at MOPS tomorrow morning so I won't be able to work on stuff in the morning.

I think we'll be getting N glasses. I asked him about his not good grade on his science notes and he said he can't see the overhead. At the beginning of the year he said he couldn't read that teacher's handwriting, but never heard anything about not being able to focus on the words. Sept. 5 the eye doctor said the correction wasn't enough for glasses; we'll get a quick recheck done, it really sounds like he needs them.

Good Wen. Morning Everyone

Dee, good thing you will correct N's glasses. I remember when my oldest daughter needed glasses. I did'ent find out until she was 16 years ol,d and takeing her drivers permit. She failed the vision test. That's when she told me she was haveing sight problems. She said she knew we could'ent afford glasses for her so she did'ent tell us. Boy did I feel like a terrible parent. The kid did'ent need to worry about our money woes. She got her glasses within a week and retook the vision test..which she passed.

Momma-mo, does'ent all that mold get you sick? I seem to remember you telling us that anyways.

Have to scrub the kitchen floor today. There is two spots that I am sticking to. Wonder what spilled? Could have been Brett and his juice cup last night...

I never seem to be able to clean up a juice spill unless I mop.

Yeah, it's good we figured out N was having a hard time seeing the overhead. I don't think he'd have said anything if I hadn't asked about his grade. He was grumbling about why they need notes anyway. He doesn't like to write. On the last practice test he only missed 2 questions and he got 100% on the test so at least he is still learning what he needs to.

Got a tire fixed today for hubby's car. Since when does it cost 18 dollars to get a hole fixed in a tire?

Hello all! Worked at my old store today. It's hard sometimes because I see ways to improve it and can't say anything. I'm still praying that we can buy it.

I remember 3 of us getting glasses all at once this year.

DD2 made chili tonight. She's such a good cook. I guess it's ready now.

Tomorrow is a CTscan at the hospital for my lungs. Please pray that all is well.

Will do.

My DS1 is a good chili maker. Hope your daughter's chili was good tonight.

I have no idea. Could it be how much labor goes into fixing the hole?

Glad everyone got their glasses that needed them. I remember as a kid, I was 12 when I first needed glasses, I didn't wear my glasses because they felt funny and I was ashamed of them that's back when frames were big and ugly.

J the 6 year old is afraid of being alone. He says his imagination is too active and he gets scared with what comes up into his mind. I had to sit on the toilet while he took his bath tonight and after I read him a book he went to sleep in my bed. I told him if he hogged the bed like he did last time he slept with me I would carry him to his own room.

He had me read a dinosaur book an abc dinosaur book so there were plenty of dinosaurs to pronounce. Have I ever mentioned I have trouble pronouncing dinosaur names? I do. He had two dinosaur books but the first one took a half hour and I refused to read another one.

We had teriyaki pork stir fry for supper tonight along with rice and stir fry veggies that I steamed. My teenager said this meal is a keeper so I expect I will make it again. Z, DS3, my teenager, is in wrestling now and he has to lose 15 pounds by next Tuesday to be in Varsity wrestling. Hubby says I must prepare meals that will help him lose weight and also keep him at the weight he needs to be. No problem I could use a weight loss myself and so could hubby.

Good Thur. Morning Everyone

Ginny, My grandson, Ethan, LOVES his dinosaur book and toys and DVD's ect. He can say ALL the dinosaur names, and has impressed his pre-school teacher with that. At one time he use to take the eggs out of the fridge, at his house,, and place them in drawers to "hatch" some dinosaur's even! LOL He started likeing them after I gave him all of Cody's "Land Before Time" VHS tapes. Then he fell in love with the dinosaur. He can tell you when they lived and died out and everything. Funny little guy

My husband says he is only working half a day today. We will see...he has said that before and worked the whole day anyways. They leave for up north tomorrow morning. Him and the boys are all going. Hubby will be back sometime Tues. Our son's will be back on Wen. Did I ever tell you all how much I dislike them all leaving? There are plenty of deer around our area to hunt..and I don't even like venison
I miss them gone so long, and pray for their safe return every year.
I should be used to this..hubby has been going up north for 21 years now. And as the boys grew up they started going also. The only thing I like about it is my guys bond while they are all gone to the cabin. That is a special time for them all.

I did plan our sister-get-away for Sat. tho. So I have something to look forward to. And me and Pam are going to two craft sales before we leave for the get-away. That should be fun.

That does sound fun. Enjoy yourselves.

Ethan and J are two peas in a pod. J loves his dinosaurs too though he doesn't quite have all their names memorized.

My husband never got into hunting but he does love sports and the boys and him would bond when they were away on sporting events. I'm glad you are planning on keeping busy while hubby is away.

This morning J and I woke up late almost too late to get him ready for school but we managed. He didn't want the bacon biscuit I offered him said instead he will eat breakfast at school..

Sweet. I talked to Maggie last night. She's tired but to me she sounded very good. We had a good chat.

Good morning, everyone.

I've not been here much again this week. It's not been a good week for me . . . the menopause thing really caught me this week -- big time. So I've been dealing with cramps and all that goes with that, including fatigue. Plus Bill & I have had two major blow-outs. Men can be so very clueless . . . I think things are patched up now, but I have lost all ambition to do anything around here, and there is so much needing done

Barb, glad to hear the comforter is coming along. As far as the curve of the corners .. I'd find a large bowl to place on the corner for a pattern . . . that's what I always do with my corner stuff. I've finished rather difficult alteration order this wee, and am nearly half-way thru another. I really don't like hemming lined jacket sleeves -- especially those with plackets & buttons . . . . I did do an alteration on my swimsuit top I'm rather proud of tho. I had to order a new one, and the cups were to large, so I removed them, cut them down and sewed them back in . . all in one afternoon! Am very pleased with that!

The sister thing sounds good . . actually, the hubby/guy thing sounds good right now too! . . . Bill's never done anything like that -- gone away for anything, really. He seems to be under the mistaken notion that I would be upset over that . . . believe me, at this point in time, I would not be upset

Ginny, glad you got to talk to Maggie. Yes, she does sound like she's doing well when I chat with her.

Dee, that is pretty expensive for a tire repair . . don't think they are that high around here, but the last time I had it done I do believe it was $12. It's been a few years . . . we get our tires from Walmart now and get the road hazard with it, so repairs are free. I'm glad you are getting glass for N . . it does sound like he needs them.

Momma-Mo, I hope the CT scan turns out ok. I would really be concerned about the black mold and all of your family's lung problems, tho. I'm glad you're getting it checked out.

I declined to keep Garrett last night because I was just having such a hard day. I'm better today, and we will be off to therapy here in a little while.
