ORIGINAL: a_sparrow Hello, all. I've lurked a bit but have been feeling too overwhelmed by everything that needs attention here to post. On Monday I didn't even feel up to going to work, which was definitely not good. I'm sorry that you've been under so much stress. How do you feel now? quote:
Roberta, that sounds like a lot of work, Thanksgiving for 11 people. I'm impressed that you took on that challenge. Actually, I love doing things like that (except for the cleaning the house beforehand.) I do have a back up plan in case things aren't going well for me. I've already got people bringing the drinks, salads and dessert. I just have to do the rest. It's supposed to be clear skies and 70º so we are planning on eating outside. Before I had to go to work, I would go to the homeless shelter for Thanksgiving and Christmas and prepare their meal. I thought about doing that again this year, but if I'm not feeling up to it, I have no back-up plan that would work. Everyone who volunteers or works there has to pass a background check. It would be hard to find someone who would be willing to spend the holidays away from home, do the work to feed that many people and pass a background check for themselves and any help they brought along. quote:
Dh is having dental surgery, and I'm a bit worried about that. Dental work is horrible to have to endure. When is he having it done? quote:
I work part-time as an examinations invigilator at the local high school (get the exam room ready, give out papers, watch the students, collect the papers etc), which suits me as I'm only needed in November, January, March, May and June. I find it tiring but know it won't be for too long. Did you start back this week? quote:
Today I worked just 8.30-10.45, came home and slept for 2 hours - so pathetic! I was wiped out! I just really can't take the strain! <shakes head> (I'm fine now, btw) Glad you're feeling better. What's wrong with taking a two hour nap when you need it? quote:
Ah well, I have three mornings work next week, and will just have to schedule in naps after each one! At least it will bring in a bit of extra cash towards the winter bills. [:)] I bet the extra cash will be nice. Enjoy your naps. quote:
I did get my root canal done today, then came home to some terrible news on TV. [:(][:(][:(] Melissa, how is your mouth feeling now? Heartbreaking news indeed. quote:
I seem to be glued to the news (cable and online) watching the tragedy unfold at Fort Hood. We have friends at Fort Hood. [:(][:(][:(] ((((Harvie)))) do you know if your friends are OK or not? quote:
quote: Today I worked just 8.30-10.45, came home and slept for 2 hours - so pathetic! I was wiped out! I just really can't take the strain! I wonder if part of the reason for that is you actually have to be somewhere doing something at that time. I know that I find things I have to do far more tiring than things I choose to do (I can spend longer shopping when I choose to do it, instead of when I have to do it). Shopping isn't really a very good example, but it's the only one I can think of right now. The good thing is that you recognise that you need to schedule naps in and can take them, instead of making yourself miserable by just carrying on with your day. Now that I think about it, I'm much more tired after doing things that I have to do verses things that I want to do. That's a good point aga.
