It amy be because they have no recruiting class and things may go downhill fast.

The cats are in the house and while they occasionally stand by the doors, they don't seem to have a desire to go outside.

my parent's cat (formerly mine) LOVES sneaking outside. she loves being out in the sun, getting all warm and stuff. she never goes far. when I lived in an apartment i'd get home, open the door, and she'd run out about 10 feet and stop. Then she'd turn back to look and me and meow. Crazy cat.
The cat I had before that was an indoor/outdoor cat. It was nice because we didn't need a litter box for her. She had a whole acre of litterbox to choose from (sandy yard).

Whenever I open my windows, my two cats like to sit in the window sill and look outside. I do have screens on the windows so they can not get out.

My two youngest ones, who were saved from the streets, have never made the first move to try to go outside.
They know a good thing when they have it.

I am leaving next week for 3 weeks in Mississippi. I have found a lady who works at my vet's office to come in and care for the cats. If she needs to she can take them to the vet when I am gone.

That's what we do (not the same lady, and we don't go to Mississippi, and we don't say three weeks, but otherwise just the same).
