This is a light hearted thread of things that make you go "HUH?"

For instance, in the summer m'love and I don't use a blanket on the bed. That is not the strange thing. What is odd is how many times we wake up with the sheet twisted lengthwise like you would twist a towel to wring it out. And to think we do this in our sleep.

The only "Huh?" moment I can think of is when I look at the kitchen sink and wonder how 2 people can dirty so many dishes!

My "huh" moment happened when a well known cellphone company sent me a monthly bill for just listening to a sales pitch at their phone kiosk in the mall!
(I'd filled out a questionnaire regarding the sales pitch their representative
gave about the company and the services/products they offered. Nothing on the questionnaire about me wanting a cellphone just general opinion of the company and what I thought of the service/products they offered. )

YUP, something is going on. I mean I washed dishes yesterday and the sink is full again.

I get so annoyed by how much we use i give them to good will, and i swear it's like more dishes come around.

Hmmmm

My next HuH moment was when I went to the grocery store and started to crave chicken wings. I called m'love to pick some up on his way home and it turns out that is what he had ordered for lunch. His co-worker had suggested that he order extra to take home because I might want some, too.

It is spooky how many times I plan a dinner to find uot that is what he had for lunch.

It has always fascinated me that food smells better if he is cooking. Before you jump to the conclusion that I am a bad cook I will say that he says food smells better to him when I am doing the cooking. I guess when you are busy doing the cooking you don't notice the smells.

m'love doesn't cook very often but he does like to grill with charcoal. When he comes back inside I just have to sniff his shirt. Wish they could put that smell in an aftershave. Not a HUH? moment, though...just a happy thought.

I want to know how 2 people living in married bliss can accumulate four or five loads of laundry each week. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE???? Huh?

Years ago I worked in a poorly ventilated food court. There was a Chinese restaurant next to ours and I would leave there smelling like Chinese food. Any time I went to the bank or anywhere without changing clothes people would comment that something smelled good. I always thought it fumnny that women spend so much money to smell like flowers and stuff when Chinese food is what really turns a man's head! (Sorry for the detour)

My "huh" moment was noticing that I really do care if my porch light is on when I come home after dark. It's not like I need the light to see. It's a plain and simple emotional sense of 'glad to come home' as opposed to 'there's my house'. Now my dh makes an effort to have it on for me. Nice, huh?

My HUH moment comes when I am doing laundry and trying to figure out how the washing machine eats the socks. I can NEVER find any matching pairs.

Sorry about "getting real" in a fun thread, but there is a simple solution for the washer or dryer eating the socks.

Pin the toes of each individual set of sock with a large safety pin before you put them in the dryer. That way, when you at last take them out of the dryer, you will have at least found some pairs of two socks.

As for the ones that disappeared anyway, suck it up. Be big about it! Socks aren't that important! I mean it's not like world peace rests on them or anything!

When you get stabbed with the pins that come open in the washer or dryer, just have some Bandaids handy. Not the common ones -- get some of the fun ones with Teenage Mutant Turtles or Porky Pig on them! Don't waste the moment when you could have some fun with it!

As for the safety pins that get embedded in the socks, it won't take more than about 5 minutes to finally get the pin out of the first sock.

Sorry about the sock that goes all the way past the little circular part that connects the pointy end to the head-end. Just do your best to extricate the sock from that, and if you can't, just wear the pin there. No one will see it. If your toes start hurting or blister up, use the scissors and cut the safety pin out, for good night. No biggie.

As far the single socks you still end up with, they make great puppets. Sure, you may end up with a lot of them, but you could send them to Switzerland or something. Even to Wisconsin. They wear so many socks there in the wintertime that they don't even care what they look like or if they match. They just need more socks.

Or you could buy all your socks in the same color and design: that way, you won't even notice if you are missing any, until you get down to the last pair or two.

That's good Abiyah..and I have bought my husband packs of socks in the same color.

Why then does a sock turns up that never belonged to us in the first place. HUH? Who's sock time warped from their machine to ours and can I have mine back?

When our sons or DD's boyfriend comes down, we end up with their socks. The sons would rather borrow m'love's socks when theirs are dirty and leave me theirs until the next time they come down. How's that for love?

On a different note, my wonderful husband agreed to go out on a hike with me when he really wanted to play a game. When he finally got to a stopping point, we laced up our sneakers, opened the door and it began to rain. So we went back to our games. How did he do that, huh?

I have one big huh... whenever I talk about wanting another lawn mower, my current one breaks down.
I think mine is too sensitive.

Good questions. I have opened a post (so not to co-opt this one)
that we may hope to find the reasons behind such things.

that was an ingenious but long post. So, you seem to have time on your hands. Want to come over and wash some of those dishes?
