# A Prayer for Peace During the Government Shutdown

I saw a Facebook post from a cousin today that read “Deja vu… another government shutdown. (Her husband) still required to go to work, with no pay.  
God is good. All the time.”

Anyone facing this same reality, or knows somebody currently going through it? Even with the promise of back pay, it can be scary to not know when the next paycheck, which you rely on to provide for yourself and your family, will arrive.

Here is a short, quick prayer to lift up if you’re feeling uneasy or anxious today:  
_Dear God,_  
_Help me to see the light at the end of this tunnel. Provide for me like only you can. Touch my heart and awaken my mind to what you have for me. I trust you and thank you. Keep me safe in your embrace and help me to encounter your presence even in my despair. In [Jesus](https://www.christianity.com/jesus/)’ name. Amen._

Yes, I remember the 2018 shutdown clearly. It tested our faith and finances, but also drew our family into deeper prayer and trust in the Lord’s provision. Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” If you’re walking through this now, know you’re not alone. Keep praying, stay in the Word, and lean on the Body of Christ. God _will_ make a way.
