A Prayer for When You’re Struggling with Health Anxiety
When health fears creep in, they can feel all-consuming. Today’s prayer is for those caught in the spiral of symptom-checking, worry, and “what if” scenarios. It’s a reminder that God’s truth demolishes the lies anxiety whispers, and that even in our worst fears, His presence remains constant.

Anxiety over our health can take root quickly—often beginning with one unexpected symptom or a scary story we’ve heard. For some, it’s fueled by a constant cycle of online searches and self-diagnosis. For others, it’s the lingering “what if” thoughts that play over and over in our minds.
The apostle Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that we are to “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” Health anxiety thrives in isolation and secrecy, but healing often begins when we invite others in, seek prayer, and bring our fears into God’s light.
In sharing her own journey, the author of today’s devotional reminds us that our imagined futures are often stripped of God’s presence—a lie the enemy loves to tell. The truth is that even in our worst-case scenarios, God is still there. He is still good. He still provides. And He still works all things together for our good.
Let’s Pray:
Loving Father, we praise You for being the God of Truth. We confess that far too often we trade Your truth for lies, choosing isolation over fellowship and darkness over light.
Today, we choose truth. We choose the fellowship of other believers and the covering of prayer when we are weak. We ask for Your light to expose the dark corners of our minds where fear takes root.
We demolish the picture that our worry and fears create—a future that does not exist, and one without You. Thank You for being our Redeemer, for the hope that even if the worst happens, You will be there with us, working all things for our good. We embrace the truth that You are Jehovah Jireh, our provider in every circumstance.
Grant us wisdom to take the next right steps when anxiety about our health weighs heavy. Lead us to the people, counselors, and doctors who can minister to our deepest needs. Free us from the crippling burden that keeps us from living the abundant life You have for us.
You are good no matter what—whether in healing or in the waiting. We will praise You even in uncertainty, not only for what You do, but for who You are: our good and loving Father.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
