Please b n prayer with me about buying when I don’t need to. I’ve struggled with overspending my entire life & now that I’m retired I need to stop the insanity of spending money.
Welcome Karen. It’s nice to see you and so glad you are here! I know of only one other person who spends money she doesn’t really have. She got herself in trouble too and lost her home. The stuff she bought was super nice but she had no place to put it and so it ended up against a wall or on top of a table. She became a bit of a hoarder.
I don’t think God removes from us that which we tightly cling to. We have to open our palm towards Him and be willing to let it go. My friend over spent because of the feeling it gave her. I’ve heard that giving up something is best done by replacing it with something else. Is there something of interest you could do instead of shopping? Do you know why you over spend? There is a reason and maybe that’s what you need to figure out. My prayer is that you do discover why and through that discovery, find healing.
Get a sheet of paper, put a line down the middle, at the top of the paper put negative on one column and positive like wise, ask your self, what do you get out of spending money, if its negative put it on negative column. and do the same for the positive. this will help you
A Prayer for Financial Discipline and Peace
Lord, I confess I’m trapped in overspending and feel pulled to buy what I don’t need.
Please break the grip of this addiction, give me self-control, and teach my heart to be content.
Help me make wise choices with what You provide and walk in freedom and peace.
