Are You Traveling This Fall/Winter?

My family and I live far away from both sides of our family, so we often travel during the holiday season. Curious to know what others (especially those with young kids) do during the holidays.

It’s always a balance between wanting to see family during the holidays, but also wanting to have our own traditions with our kids at our home.

What has worked for you? I want to focus on gratitude, peace, and the simple joys of the season and not get caught up in all the stress and busyness.

This article about having a prayer-focused mindset during travel is a good reminder, too.

5 Ways to Stay Spiritually Grounded While Traveling

Totally hear you. it’s such a tricky balance between making memories with extended family and creating those quiet, meaningful traditions at home.

One thing that’s helped some friends of mine is alternating years: one year they travel, the next they stay put. That way, they don’t feel stretched too thin, and their kids still get those “at home” holiday memories.

Another family I know picks a weekend before the holidays to travel and celebrate early, then keeps the actual holiday low-key and local.

Whatever the setup, I think your focus is exactly right, gratitude, peace, and keeping Jesus at the center. Everything else can flex.
