Lately I’ve noticed how overwhelming online spaces can feel, not just the news, but even the constant stream of opinions, arguments, and “hot takes.”
Sometimes it makes me wonder what a distinctly Christian way of engaging online looks like right now.
How do you keep your peace and your perspective when the digital world gets loud?
Do you set boundaries, limit certain apps, or approach online conversations differently?
Turn it off. Walk away. Breath. Many times we see Jesus do this.
“And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,” Matthew 14:23
“And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” Mark 1:35
“But he would withdraw to desolate places and pray.” Luke 5:16
An empty picture pours no water. Sometimes we all need time to get filled. As for those who like to claim that Social Media is evil, I would suggest it is not. A hammer can be used to kill someone, or it can be used to build something. A screwdriver can turn a screw or pierce through one’s heart. Yes, a Gun can be used to defend an innocent life or used for murder. Social Media is a tool. How you use it is what it becomes.
