I’ve met people who keep detailed prayer journals, tracking requests and answers. Others just talk to God throughout the day, like an ongoing conversation.
I’m somewhere in between—trying to stay consistent without making it a chore.
How do you approach prayer? List? Journal? Freeform? Something else?
My human mind has been tormented almost completely away living in the hell i am trapped in so i generally always pray in the spirit since my human side is always under satans influence.
I’m a relatively new prayer. A helpful mentor and pastor friend initially taught me the process of prayer. He said that the traditional methods of prayer, which required formally addressing an all-knowing God, were abolished by Jesus, along with the previous mentality of needing to perform “good deeds” to enter heaven. So what I do is place a chair for Jesus, and I address him with my eyes closed to envision him and talk with him like a friend. And he conveys to me feelings when we talk, as well as throughout the night and day after our talks.
Jesus is very personal, so he knows what you need or feel comfortable with for prayer and to work on your relationships. If you need to talk to him in whispers or hold his hand during a hike, he understands your needs and will gladly support you. I believe when Jesus established a pathway through him to Heaven, he also opened up a fellowship that truly baffles the traditionalists who focus on the Old Testament.
I do not keep a list. Well, I guess technically this isn’t true. I see my prayers in my head; like an endless movie, they come up on my walks with Jesus.
I am in consistent prayer. Sometimes I write them down, but usually I don’t have time to stop and write in my journal with every prayer. God hears our every thought, so praying all day every day with a conversation in my head with Him is the best! I am so thankful we have a mediator in Jesus!
